Lincoln: Beyond the Log Cabin Now Online

February 12th, 2009 · No Comments

You a fan of Abraham Lincoln like we are?

Then you’ll want to take a look at Beyond the Log Cabin: Kentucky’s Abraham Lincoln, which has been made available as an online exhibition. It’s also currently on display at the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History in Frankfort and offers a new perspective on the sixteenth president during the bicentennial celebration of his birth.

“We hope that Kentuckians will take advantage of this opportunity to experience the Beyond the Log Cabin: Kentucky’s Abraham Lincoln exhibition and to learn more about Lincoln’s Kentucky connections during this bicentennial commemoration of his birth,” said Kent Whitworth, executive director of the Kentucky Historical Society. “The new Web site will make commemorating the Lincoln bicentennial possible for Kentuckians that cannot visit the traveling exhibition and enhance the experience of those that are able to view the gallery exhibition.”

It’s all pretty awesome, if we, as huge geeks, may say so. Cool things like this “Free Soil, Free Men” campaign lantern from ca. 1858-60:

Again, check it out on the internets.
