We heard through the grapevine that the medical malpractice suit against Steve Henry brought by Amie Fuchs has been settled. We checked with Charlie Cunningham’s court and that is, indeed, the case. Maury Kommor and John Doyle of the firm Maury Kommor and Associates confirmed that it was resolved in the form of a settlement. Under the terms of the settlement, however, details cannot be released. Very interesting stuff. [Never-Ending Henry Snafu]
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee just announced its second phase of the Families First Campaign, hitting freshman Republican members of Congress. Here’s the text of the automated call targeting Brett Guthrie in KY-02: “Hello, I’m calling on behalf of the DCCC with an important message about the economy. Did you know Congressman Brett Guthrie voted against economic recovery that would immediately create and save nearly 330,000 Kentucky jobs? Times are tough, tell Congressman Guthrie to put families before politics. Check out www.dccc.org to learn more. Paid for by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, 202-741-1350, not authorized by any candidate or candidate’s committee.” [Press Release]
House Bill 70, a proposed constitutional amendment for the automatic restoration of voting rights for former felons who have completed their sentences, is expected to get serious consideration in the Kentucky House tomorrow morning. There’s a hearing at 8:00 A.M. with the House Elections & Constitutional Amendments Committee and will be followed at 10:00 A.M. by a Voting Rights Speak-Out and Press Conference in Annex Room 131. [Press Release]
Daniel Mongiardo is the latest bailout recipient. [KY Progress]

From the University of Louisville memory hole. Does anyone know if John Deasy ever reported to his new job at the Gates Foundation? We’ve looked all over the place and have made dozens of calls. We can find no evidence that he has, with the exception of the September press release about his hiring. Thoughts? Details? [Pondering the Robert Felner Scandal]
Indeed, ladies, the Grand Old Party is crumbling. The Republican Party is falling apart because it lacks values and direction. [Politico]
Latest Survey USA/WHAS11 poll numbers indicate that 60% of Kentuckians favor allowing video slot machines at racetracks. A mere 38% oppose the measure. Unfortunately for Kentucky, there are people like Greg Stumbo and Governor Steve Beshear who always know how to screw a good thing up. Refusing to allow Kentuckians (90% who want to!) the chance to vote on the matter was a major stumbling block. And screwing up with Jerry Bronger? Yet another mistake. [Mark Hebert]
That Holocaust-denying bishop we told you about this morning? He’s been “relieved” of his seminary post in Argentina. Thank goodness the Society of St. Pius X has the gumption to do the right thing. [The Guardian]
The CCTV Headquarters in Beijing went up in flames. The mind-blowing tower was designed by Rem Koolhaas, one of the guys behind Louisville’s infamous/maybe never being built? Museum Plaza tower. Check out the video. [Huffington Post]
Green your shiz in tough economic times, people. Green, green, green. Some of these suggestions are no-brainers. [WSJ]
Ah, the nuclear physicist technology sector motorcycle gang green beret coal expert heavy metal rock star political advisor is at it again. Apparently Joe Sonka and Jake are out for a pay day from the “gay lobby” (whatever that is). Despite the fact that Joe has an awesome job and Jake runs a very successful business. And Daniel Mongiardo, champion for domestic partner benefits? HAHAHA. We echo what Joe said. [Hilarious]
P.S. to Daniel Mongiardo’s “best friend,” William Shackleford – I didn’t start the Facebook group, that’d be Joe Sonka. It takes all of five seconds to look at the group. But I have kept every email you’ve ever sent me, every voicemail left, every telephone conversation recorded– where you go on for hours about how you fear your telephone is bugged because you’re a former green beret and secret nuclear agent contracted with HHS. You’ve threatened me with your “motorcycle gangs,” your “Native American tribes,” your “powerful Judge-Executive friend” in podunk and your “friends in Frankfort.” You’re always worried about losing your position with the state’s Native American organization. Would you like it if I start publishing what I know? Nope, you wouldn’t. Nor would your “best friend” Daniel Mongiardo. Nor would your employer, Nucsafe (would they like to know you publish slander/libel from their computers during your work day?). But keep on personally attacking me. I’m not Mark Nickolas. I don’t back down to alcohol-fueled threats. And I have tons of money to put where my mouth is – something he did not, a reason he had to flee the Commonwealth.

How come Shack’s band won’t “friend” our band on the myspace?

I don’t know where this has went but I have not slandered you and have never threatened you. I will remove the comment I made, the one I think you’re talking about,
because no matter what, I can not have my work brought in to this. It is not worth it Jake. You need some help. Political fighting should never get this personal.

that coming from the guy who repeatedly politicizes someone’s sexuality as a means of trying to de-legitimate them to all their redneck followers. uhhhh….

If you think I am backing down, you are all crazy. This will be the last time I will comment here.

As I just told you via email:
That’s rubbish. You most certainly have made this personal. You’ve slandered, libeled and attacked and have all but dragged this bit of political discourse through the crapper. You have been nasty, disrespectful and downright malicious. I let it slide for quite a while. I didn’t care about the homophobic attacks on my personal life or sexual orientation. That’s all water under the bridge. But lately you’ve stepped off the deep end and have really gone too far.
To personally denigrate in all manners as you have recently done is something I believe the good people, companies and organizations you represent would abhor. I’m not judging, but I think it’s a shame for you to stoop so low, to misrepresent the people who make up both of our bloodlines, to misrepresent supporters of Daniel Mongiardo and to misrepresent people who have aligned themselves with you thinking you’re a good person. Instead, what they get is someone who repeatedly politicizes others’ personal lives, their personal well-being and anything else they can grasp because they’re upset or bent out of shape as a means to de-legitimize them.
If you don’t want it to be personal, let me give you a bit of advice: don’t make it personal and don’t attack somebody unless they’re a candidate, elected official or very public persona. Why not try attacking a message instead of a messenger? It might get you somewhere and it might not force people like me to stand up for themselves in such a manner as to make you uncomfortable. Because it’s in my nature to protect myself when wrongly attacked and you know I will.
Best wishes to you and yours (honestly).

P.S. You shouldn’t register domain names for your “band” using your employer’s contact information if you don’t want it to be public.
8 Terri // Feb 9, 2009 at 10:22 pm
God will you two just make out already and get it over with?

Why is the DCCC attacking Guthrie for not creating jobs in Florida? I’m confused.
11 3CardNana // Feb 10, 2009 at 9:07 am
Yeah, Florida? What a waster of their money.

The text was pulled from a D-trip press release. They must’ve had one template and copied/pasted it several times without changing the state.

That’s pretty sloppy. Not Jennifer Moore sloppy, but still sloppy.

By the way, did I actually writer ‘waster’?
