Haha, look at this. Darlene FItzgerald’s husband (Austin Price), not clued in enough to avoid using his personal email address (manually typing it in) on our email contact form, sent us this hilarious message pretending to be “Ian Jones”:

Lying, libeling, impersonation. Just think – these people are attorneys/are trying to be attorneys!
How hilarious is that? Pretending to be someone else but not intelligent enough not to manually type in your own, personal email address? Dahaha. These people. It’s priceless. Having to deal with them at all of the Senate primary events over the next year or so is going to be absolutely embarrassing.

Well, maybe her hubby can’t stop stepping in it, but I wish folks would not lump her in with him.
Go to her site (granted, the design is so awful it makes your eyes bleed, but please do it anyway,) and read her positions on the issues. She is in the right place on a LOT of issues. Very progressive.
And when I watched her speak in Flemingsburg she was pretty good. A firecracker – and she knew her stuff. The things that I do not know about her are the wedge issue items (gays and abortion.) Her site carefully avoids those issues. As far as guns – like any sensible Kentucky politician she is pro-gun.
It doesn’t look good for her that her campaign team is trying to astroturf – and doing it clumsily.
I hope Jack gets in, and I hope he puts detailed progressive positions up on his site the way Darlene has. I know his advisors will fight tooth and nail to keep him from adopting progressive positions, and will probably try to make him as milquetoasty as possible – but I hope he wears the progressive/populist fighter mantle. People are crying out for courage from our representatives. We don’t want another stuffed suit playing-it-safe.

I feel sorry for candidates like Darlene. She can be progressive ‘till the cows come home but if she doesn’t play the game and raise the money, her prospects for victory are D.O.A. Not much in life sucks worse than honestly working hard on a campaign while being completely ignored by the media and your political party.
