And she wants to know if you’re ready for her. At least, that’s according to her latest press release.

While the things she’s done for her country are definitely noble and worthy of praise, her “campaign” seems like a commercial for her book, Border Gate. And that’s all she seems to be able to talk about. Hint for Darlene: Stop advertising your book in official campaign correspondence and it won’t seem so shady. Using your campaign to promote a book is borderline unethical and skirts campaign finance law in both the Commonwealth and on the federal level. Someone who refers to herself as a “watchdog” while trying to run for elected office should probably be cognizant of such impropriety.

We checked out her website but can’t tell what the heck is going on. The black background with bright white text burned a hole in our retina.

Dear Fellow Kentuckians:

Is Kentucky ready for a real “PEOPLE’S CANDIDATE?” Our country desperately needs public servants to replace the self-serving politicians in Congress. None is more worthy of your support than Darlene Fitzgerald Price. Darlene personifies the concept of public service. She is the only candidate running who is not a millionaire. She is also the only ACTIVE DUTY VETERAN in the race. But most importantly, she is an ex-cop who became a federal Whistleblower when she took on corruption within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Briefly, here’s what happened:

Drugs are tearing our state apart, killing our children, filling our jails, and bankrupting our treasuries. Darlene put her life on the line in the war on drugs and as a National Security Whistleblower. When Darlene was a Special Agent she exposed one of the largest pipelines used by the drug cartels to smuggle their poison into the U.S. She tried to plug the gaping holes in our border and port security resulting from high level government corruption and cronyism. Basically, her bosses shut down her operation and hounded her out of DHS. Her relentless pursuit of government corruption has placed her at great personal risk, but she won’t back down. As a National Security Whistleblower, she quickly found that no one was speaking for “WE THE PEOPLE”. In essence, that’s why she’s completing her law degree and running for the U.S. Senate. Darlene further inflamed her attackers by testifying before Congress and by challenging the status quo in a land mark case in federal court. For this she has been threatened and punished on an enormous scale. Still, she fights on.

We are excited at the possibility of this gutsy patriot serving the people of this great state. While she may be the “underdog” in this race, she’s the only real “watchdog” we’ve got. To get elected, she must conduct a very aggressive campaign. Darlene’s opponents are well-funded, professional politicians who have been in office for many years. Yet our state remains in dire straits. We need change and we need it now! The usual politicians don’t want a whistleblower protection law that might end up biting them, nor do they want the legal bribery of lobbying reformed – where they get most of their campaigns funded.

This is one more reason Darlene feels strongly that she must step forward and offer the voters of Kentucky a real choice. However, to be successful in this endeavor will take a very strong and dedicated grass roots effort. Darlene, her family, and our committee are already hard at work building a winning strategy. All of us have volunteered to knock on doors, place yard signs, and do whatever it takes to get her elected. We ask for your support in helping us rise to this great challenge.
