Oh, damn. We can’t even explain this. Can’t even muster an oh snap. Don’t even know where to begin or how to put it into, well, just damn.
Long story short: This guy had an affair with a court clerk who is married to a wealthy Louisville attorney. She had a kid by him. And the dude isn’t allowed to see the kid.
Scandalous pictures, email, text messages, all kinds of juicy accusations. What! How did we not know about this mess? Hoo boy.
You’ve gotta read all of this.
Damn.
Thoughts?

Thoughts?
I think this is an old story. I think it was covered extensively in local and national media including (I think) Time. I think that dude will show up in this comment thread.

“How did we not know about this mess?”
This story is almost a year old. It’s been in Time freaking Magazine for crying out loud.
Maybe you should Google “Ricketts paternity” next time.

I know about the story– but I mean the website (which is why we linked to it), with the nasty photos.
I don’t remember reading about that.

The website has been around for awhile. I read it a few months ago and keep up to date with it.

The bill he is referring to is HB 28 in the 2009 session.

The relevance of the post is this:

I didn’t try to wade through all the stuff on that blog, but don’t most states have laws establishing that legally, the husband of a woman who has a child born from sperm donated by someone other than the husband is the father?
If I’m understanding this correctly, Mr. Ricketts is legally presumed to be the father of the baby, DNA notwithstanding. Is that the law the guy who created the Web site (or website, to mollify Jake) is trying to abolish?
And why was this in Time magazine? Why is this story of national interest?

Charlie Ricketts is responsible for keeping the late evil sex-killer Mel Ignatow on the streets, so it’s easy to see why he ignores justice whenever it suits him. Lawyers! He’s prolly got his own set o’ Bourbon Balls!

Unfortunately the injustice mentioned in this article is not isolated. In Kentucky, family law judges now think they are gods and can ignore laws, rules, and just plain common sense when ever the “god” feels like it. Especially in cases that involve attorneys.
And its a illusion that you can file a complaint with the judicial conduct commission. This so called “commission” is rejecting valid complaints against judges left and right without any good reason to do so. We the public haven’t heard about it because the commission is protected from scrutiny when the judicial branch of government ruled that it is not subject to the open records request.

Didn’t the family court judge rule in the biological father’s favor, the Court of Appeals affirmed and the Supreme Court reversed?
Can’t blame the family court here.

You’re right. The Ky Appeals and Ky Supreme Court are above “gods” here in Kentucky.
The Kentucky court systems are falling apart. There is no rhyme nor reason to the rulings and no where to redress grievances against judges.
So why don’t we throw a couple more million dollars to build a few more courthouses that are not even handicap accessible, in poor areas that don’t need new judicial centers- and lets sure we do it blind without any oversight to the spending.
No wonder everybody else in the US thinks Kentucky people are d(^^ba$$@$.

Gee, what would make one think about people from Kentucky being d##@#$$e$. Would it be the horrid school system. Would it be the average person being willfully ignorant. Would it be the toleration of a corrupt system.
Even the http://www.pioneerpress.com of Saint Paul Minnesota mentioned that Kentucky was the 3rd most corrupt state and that was even ahead of Gov. Blagojevich’s Illinois. I think that speaks volumes on the idiocy that permeates Kentucky

Time covered the story because Michael Lindenberger, formerly of the C-J, was working there at the time and wrote the story.
Not sure I can take sides in this one…a wife and mother who cheats on her husband while he’s stationed in the Air Force; a man who sleeps with and impregnates a woman whom he knows is married, then posts half-naked pictures of her on his website; or the son of Charlie Ricketts.
The kid may have a right to know who his father is, but I think he may be too young to appreciate it just yet.
