New KDP Leadership On The Horizon

November 19th, 2008 · 13 Comments

That’s right, folks. We hear through the very official grapevine that new leadership is on its way in at the Kentucky Democratic Party. This chapter will soon be closed.

A new chairperson and vice chair will serve in ceremonial capacities and will no longer have the ability to embarrass Democrats across the Commonwealth by making it the Jennifer Show or the Jerry Show or whatever. Our current chair and her executive director are being let go. They’re on their way out.

A new and highly-skilled executive director will be hired after an exhaustive search. This individual will likely be plucked with the aid of the Obama campaign and will have the, you know, common sense not to screw things up.

A new communications director and spokesperson will join the party and develop real relationships with the media, new media, all Democrats and the Commonwealth.

And our most highly skilled folks will be utilized where they best fit. We’ll have more on this later.

But most importantly, nearly every member of the State Central Executive Committee we have spoken with is super-excited to have a new chair and a new direction in which to grow. No one is happy with the current leadership– not even the Beshear administration– and we’ll leave it at that.

A new day is upon us.

So stay tuned.

Jake. This is great news and I know you have kept the pressure on to see these changes happen. I personally want to thank you for your efforts to showcase the horrible and unprofessional job the Chair has done. Again Thank You.

Let’s hope whoever the Obama campaign has in mind isn’t any of the local hacks who caused the problems at the Jefferson County and state conventions – Carolyn Tandy, John Wright, and Tim Longmeyer. If they are involved, it will mean nothing new – same problems, just different problem leaders.

It’s Jon Wright. And he wasn’t responsible for anything. He’s not even in Kentucky and hasn’t been for quite a while.

The others, well, I won’t speak to what they may have or may not have caused.

The Executive Director likely won’t even be a Kentuckian, which is good, because they won’t be tied up in our antiquated political circles.

    WOOHOO!

Our long state and local nightmare is over.

For the first time in months, there are signs of intelligent Democratic life in Frankfort. Let’s hope it’s a sign of better things to come.

And congratulations to PageOne, which has established itself as the prime source for political news, not spin, in the Kentucky blogosphere.

Actually he was very involved in Louisville at the 48th LD elections in April, later at the Galt House, and in Lexington at the state convention, however you spell his name. I dont know who he is or who he was or where he is now, but he ran the 48th LD – ask you friend Olivia Fox or Preston Bates, and then he ran the 3rd District fiasco in Lexington, taking direct orders from Tandy and Longmeyer. The three of them are the reason you had so much to write about this summer. Wright was very involved. Tandy and Longmeyer were his bosses.

You just said it yourself. He was following orders.

I.E., he’s not the one upon which blame should be placed.

Acknowledging that I’m using a ridiculous example to make a point, but shouldn’t Nazi’s who killed Jews be held responsible for their actions eventhought they were following orders?

    That’s a bit extreme.

How long must we wait in suspense??? It feels like Christmas Eve!

Everyone should go on up there to Frankfort on Saturday. Or over there or down there, or whatever. It happens to be up there from here. Its supposed to be at 1pm at the state headquarters.

I acknowledge it’s extreme. It’s the principle that matters. Following orders is not an excuse for your actions if they are wrong.

Sometimes you do things because you have to or because you don’t realize they’re wrong. Doesn’t excuse your actions. But some people– especially those without a real grasp of what’s going on in a particular area– could do a lot of things they wouldn’t do if they knew what was really going down.

    Vague enough?
