The gays were out all over the place on Saturday in opposition to Proposition 8 in California.
We’ve been pretty critical of the way things went down in Louisville (here and here), but we still want to bring to light the good things that did take place. Despite the fact that the event was held downtown on a weekend where no one saw it. In the rain. Saying, “Hey, we support gay people!” isn’t enough and just doesn’t cut it anymore. The Neighborhoods Summit in Louisville got more media attention than the protest. (And, WTF? Why not at least use the grand stairway across the street?)
According to major media reports, about a million folks turned out nationwide. In Louisville, various outlets report anywhere from 100-200, depending upon the time of the protest. Police tell us the crowd numbered a little over 100.
