Elliott, Rowan, Wolfe, etc. are Yellow Dog Democrat country. It doesn’t surprise me in the least since my father was from Wolfe Co. and a self-proclaimed Yellow Dog Democrat.

I’m pretty sure most folks in Pike County had no idea what Obama said about taxing coal emissions.

Jeff, B. Hussein’s comments about coal became public knowledge in the coalfields. People in Pike County weren’t going to vote for a man who wants to bankrupt the customers of their biggest exported product.

The major stations that carried the election results included the percentages of various groups (income, sex, race, etc) and which group voted for whom. Can someone tell me how they come up with this data since our vote is to be ‘secret ballot’.

I wrote an entry on the Obama vote yesterday on my blog. There were several others which were close, but not a win.

These four are all traditionally Democratic counties. Elliott is home to Rocky Adkins, who also represents part of Rowan. All of them carried for the Democrats in the 2003 race with Fletcher and the 2004 race with Kerry. But Hancock, downriver from Louisville on the Ohio, is a big turnaround from Bush/Kerry.

I’ve been thinking these river counties who went “Reagan-Democrat” in the 80s and 90s would eventually see their error, but few have. Bullitt and Meade have made some strides, Hardin to an extent, but Hancock crossed back over. It isn’t a big county, but it is now ours – again.

I’ll add I’m disappointed in some particular counties – Pike, Breckinridge, Washington, McCreary, Nelson, and Anderson in particular.

I’m still studying the numbers. We have to get prepared for 2010 and a U. S. Senate race.

proud to say that the only four counties I’ve ever spent considerable time in went for Obama!
