Update from Last Night: Commitment 2008 In Fancy Pictures

November 5th, 2008 · 7 Comments

First, a very special shout-out and thanks to Kristin at the Downtown Marriott! Her bosses owe her a raise and some very fancy praise. She saved us a million times over last night by making sure we had internet access when the Kentucky Democratic Party did not. Without Kristin’s assistance, no one in the press could have gotten their work done last night.

With that out of the way, let’s take a look at some of the just-okay photos we took last night.

Here’s a shot of Rep. Joni Jenkins (shoes) and Lunsford spokesman Cary Stemle. It was early in the evening so they weren’t yet bent out of shape:

Peep the rest of the night’s photos after the jump…

Our favorite Obama t-shirt of the evening:

Joni’s button isn’t exactly going to be a collector’s item:

The Yarmuth crowd was content to stay in its suite:

And the Lunsford suite didn’t look too enthused:

Oh, hey, it is dirty bloggers Joe Sonka and Terri Whitehouse!

This is what makes self-important people and drag queens look normal. It’s called high-definition mattifier, ladies:

Jack Conway did an interview with WAVE before hopping over to us:

Aaron Yarmuth introduced his dad, who then went on for years with his speech:

John Yarmuth, 20% margin of MUCH WIN:

All kinds of people booed when Anne Northup gave her concession speech:

Denise Harper Angel gave a speech promising never to take advantage of voters. Even though that’s what she did when she sued Scott Ritcher for daring to run against her. We later ran into her at dinner, where she glared at us. Something about her not enjoying the company I kept? Or maybe it was me calling her a self-centered bitch (takes one to know one) in public? Who knows? Anyway, she was all boozed up, as you can see.

Look! A vampire lady was ready to bite some holes in Jack Conway’s neck!

Louisville’s next mayor, David Tandy, did a quickie:

Lt. Gov. Daniel Mongiardo (and Allison, didn’t snap her, tho) stopped by to say hello and we got a photo beforehand:

Louisville-Jefferson County Democratic Party Chairman Tim Longmeyer said hello:

Jim King and crew showed up. Everyone in the press thought we were all going to die of the mafia attack.

Speaker Jody Richards sure has some metrosexual glasses!

Bruce was swarmed by the press after his concession speech:

Then he gave Mike an interview:

Oh, look, it’s Jonathan Hurst, the guy everyone loves to hate but can never, ever provide a reason why (Jennifer Miller, natch). We’ve known Jonathan a while now and think people need to get over their, well, whatever it is with him. He runs the most successful political organization in the Commonwealth and does so successfully while everyone talks trash about him. Give it up, people. For real. Also, he forced us to talk to Tony Lindauer. And it turned out really well. Goddamnit. We actually like Tony. Ugh. Jonathan. Always killing our comedy bits.

The crowd roared for Barack Obama:

We had a Republican operative at the Galt House, as well.

Here’s Anne Northup losing her third election in as many years:

Secretary of State Trey Grayson, Kentucky’s next Governor:

Chickenhawk Mitch McConnell:

Finally, Republican Metro Councilcritter Kelly Downard:

Hate to disagree with you Jake, but Joni’s Obama shirt was the best of the night.

At first, I thought it was an AC-DC shirt.

Joni’s shirt was great. You’re right. But I’m afraid if I talk about her any more than I already do… people will think she’s paying me off. (Which, now that I think about it, is a really good idea….)

It was a treat to see her shoes in action. I may need another trip to Zappos!

The sticker on the laptop is the best. Go Cubs! (Next year is THE year, in case you didn’t know.) :)

A full glass of wine, ( as shown in the pic) post claiming a landslide victory to the media of her ‘call it 71%- 84% popular vote’ and locking in likely the entire 35th district blue vote hardly sends the message of “boozed up.”

Go Denise! There’s no room for cutting corners. We need people that can read directions, the rules, and know and uphold the law in office. Would it have been okay for Obama to skip out on the nomination process or any presidential canidate for the matter to not achieve the required electoral votes for nomination in the primary or elections????????? This matter is no different.
