Mitch McConnell’s campaign is now in damage control mode. His campaign continues to spin that he’s leading in the Senate race. And continues to make shiz up about Bruce Lunsford, saying he’s unable to rise above 40%. Notice that there’s no mention of McConnell’s negatives anywhere. Wonder what they’ll do if McConnell loses? Will they deny that, as well? [McConnell Camp]
Congressional Quarterly must really have no idea why Democrats (and Republicans) want to get rid of Mitch McConnell. Let’s clue them in: It has nothing to do with exacting revenge for the take down of Tom Daschle in 2004. And has only a little to do with Mitch being chief obstructionist. [CQ Politics]
We keep getting Google alerts for Ben Chandler at this fancy website. Americans United for Separation of Church and State. He’s got a hundred percent rating from the group. Interesting, isn’t it? [Americans United]
Republicans are now hopping back to Chuck Schumer forcing Andrew Horne out of the Senate race. Too little, too late. Should have been complaining about it when it was happening instead of waiting nine months to bring it up. Now no one cares or even knows that Schumer exists. [EITB]
The Dallas Morning News names Mitch McConnell when saying “Republicans are being set up for a major wipeout this fall.” And then goes on to talk about how GM was worth $52 billion in 2000 but is now worth $4 billion. Nice. [Dallas Morning News]
Ready for the Yarmuth-Northup debate? It’ll take place today in downtown Louisville. The Louisville Forum will be broadcast on Public Radio and later played on Insight’s Metro TV. Should be interesting since Northup has recently fallen off her rocker. Mark Hebert will moderate, so it’s sure to be entertaining. [Mark Hebert]
Does anyone remember a story in the Courier-Journal about a decade ago? Referenced a quote from Mitch McConnell were he said it didn’t matter what he did, the voters wouldn’t remember by election time? We’d love to get our hands on this condescending remark toward the public. [Fading Memory]
Jefferson County Republicans will be hosting a Fall Victory Festival this Saturday, October 11. 1001 Linn Station Road. 4:00PM – 8:00PM. Face Painting, Chili Cook Off (with extra Metamucil), McCain/Palin Yard Signs, Meet the Candidates, Live Music (weird organ music from the bronze age or whatever), Cornhole Tournament (bring your own protection), Pumpking Painting. [Press Release]

I’m glad to read of Congressman Chandler’s 100% rating with Americans United, an organization of which I am a member as its mission is something I strongly believe in. If you go to the site, his “100%” rating is because on the one issue they’ve rated him on, he voted the right way. I looked up my congressman, John Yarmuth, who has the exaxt same percentage for the exact same vote.

That memo to McConnell from his pollster is completely laughable. It was obviously edited with a hatchet. No self-respecting pollster releases a two-graph memo. That’s cause for firing.

Maybe the Secretary of State will join us by voting in honor of that military hero Brett Guthrie who managed to go south on the US Army just as the rest of the US military was heading to Desert Storm.
There’s nothing like getting a two year early out on the brink of war.

Perhaps the Kentucky would have a much better chance of defeating McConnell if we had a Democratic nominee that people could trust like Horne.
Lunsford does not give many people confidence, from his past business dealings and republican campaign contributions.
Maybe someday the party will learn that people vote for the person not the party.
In this case I have a hard time voting for either!

James, I understand your frustration and cynicism, but if you don’t vote for Bruce Lunsford, Mitch McConnell will win.
Bruce may not be our ideal candidate, but he’s a hell of a lot better than Mitch. Can you imagine how a McConnell loss would improve Congress and – hello – our country?!?! I get excited just thinking about it! This is our shot. If we don’t get him out now, we never will.
Worry about your ideal later. For now, Bruce is it.

I now realize why Mitch’s Bluegrass Blog doesn’t have any comments. I just posted comments on there about the lies about Bruce Lunsford. No use of profanity, just facts. On the comment verification where you enter text, the site wouldn’t let me post. McConnell can hand out all those lies, but doesn’t want to stand corrected. I had mentioned debates that he won’t participate in, and while he claims to be winning; you’d think he’d want to face Bruce with all those accusations. No, because they are false. So, I guess he didn’t get any positive posts: TOO BAD!
