Mitch McConnell Is a Multi-Millionaire

September 18th, 2008 · 1 Comment

And his net worth didn’t come from family as he alleged.

This past weekend at the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce U.S. Senate debate (see the entire thing HERE or our excerpts HERE), Mitch McConnell got hella testy on the matter of his personal net worth. Bruce Lunsford didn’t mention anything about McConnell’s finances and Mitch had his granny panties in a total wad. He said, “My net worth… came from my mother, my uncle and my family.” (Of course, then he went on to talk about living off the gubmint nip for 30 years)

That’s quite a stretch for McConnell. He did inherit money in 1999, according to his personal financial disclosure, which was valued at $250,000 to $500,000. The money came from his uncle but it hardly accounts for his net worth.

McConnell has collected $3 million in a taxpayer-funded salary during his 24 years in the U.S. Senate. He also voted to raise his own pay in 2001, 2002 and 2003.

He’s got an extensive stock portfolio that includes investments in ExxonMobile, ChevronTexaco and ConocoPhillips. That’s according to an MSN Money search of the mutual funds McConnell reported. These are the same big oil cronies earning record profits at a time of economic turmoil. During his last 24 years in office and the three decades he’s spent on the gubmint payroll, Mitch McConnell is now a multi-millionaire. All thanks to the taxpayers’ dime.

Mitch’s current net worth is somewhere between $3 million and $13 million, according to the most recent personal financial disclosure he filed with the Senate. This may be the reason he’s so defensive about the fact that he’s become wealthy at taxpayer expense. He knows it’s true.

Why is it that now we desperately need help in the form of the Senate voting an uneployment extension in the Republican Senators have a conscience about the deficit!? How loud do us the American people have to scream about the emergency situation that we are in! By denying us our only source of income, the aftermath will be CATACLYSMIC! Homelessness, record welfare claims, and bankrupt states! Wow, Senator McConnell, you really think that we Americans are that ignorant and stupid?? Funny, we remember the hundreds of billions of dollars you helped Bush add to the deficit, for a war that all Americans agreed that we shouldn’t be in! Do you possess common sense or any common decency? Do you care about your fellow Americans? DUE TO YOUR ACTIONS THE DWINDLING VOTES THE REPUBLICAN PARTY HAD WILL NOW BE MADE EVEN WORSE!! YOUR GOP WILL BE A PART OF THE P-A-S-T!!
