How Can People Support This Old Man?

September 15th, 2008 · 10 Comments

For real, how/why? Is it because they just love people who make shiz up and live in a fantasy world?

Whether Obama and the Democrats win this round or not, the likely outcome in the course of the next half generation, as American power implodes across the board relative to her global competitors, the GOP has set the stage for very undemocratic circumstances to emerge with damning consequences for the nation. McCain and Palin are passive, hollow candidates put up by an empowered establishment. Palin herself is a pure political product, and McCain has sold himself out to the entrenched Republican class.

Bush 43 was the start of this phenomenon. It didn’t matter that he was a dumbass: he was surrounded by strong and competent people, we were told.

It doesn’t matter that McCain is old and senile or that Palin is as dumb as a brick and inexperienced: they’ll be surrounded by strong and competent people, we’re being told.

And, it will be the same people who surrounded Bush 43.

How do you get around term limits? Undermine the Office of the President. That’s what Cheney and his ilk have been doing the last eight years.

How could anyone support a Muslim?

I’m not sure. Fitting that someone from Phoenix would raise that question, though.

So let’s find out. Why don’t we run a Muslim for the Presidency and we’ll find out?

Some food for thought. Substitute “black” for old and the hordes would be calling you a racist.

So is it not fair, then, to call you an ageist?

How could someone support a flip-flopping Episcopalian in Baptist’s clothing? (Answer: He’s white.)

Being black doesn’t affect one’s mental abilities (of course, perhaps you, Gadfly, believe that it does, since you’re a racist), but being old does affect one’s mental abilities.

Oh, and replace the word idiot with moron in this sentence: “You’re an idiot, Gadfly,” and it doesn’t change the meaning at all.

Gunti, are you that stupid? (Yes, you are). I think we know plenty of elderly people who are as sharp as they ever were.

I throw a hypothetical out, and you call me a racist. Typical attitude of the left.

That’s some Republican bullshit if I’ve ever heard Republican bullshit.

YOU brought up race, holmes, knowing fully well that race and age are not remotely equal.

And John McCain is so old he can’t remember half the shit he learned over the past year on the campaign trail. Some old people are sharp. Some are not.

Prejudice is prejudice, whether it’s against old people, black people, gay people, female people, fat people or whatever people.

Awwww. It’s so cute to see Republicans get in touch with their bleeding heart side. It’s soooooooo sincere. Of course, they’ll be nursing that bleeding heart a lot after the November bloodbath.

    Here’s my prediction:

When Americans go to the polls in November, a majority will be prejudiced against the cancer-prone, forgetful, inarticulate, old dude whose sidekick is the funny-talking, poorly educated, neurotic, sex-addicted woman who believes a schizo space ghost created the universe in six days around 4000BC.
