Heather Ryan Really Does Scare Republicans

September 8th, 2008 · 4 Comments

In a rare move, the Republican Paducah Sun mentioned Heather Ryan in a front-page story that was above the fold.

The only jeers and heckling came from a few Republicans when Democratic congressional candidate Heather Ryan criticized U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield, the Republican who has held the seat for 14 years.

As Ryan accused Whitfield of having close ties to oil companies, the health care industry and supporting tax breaks for the wealthy, Russ Randall, chairman of the 1st District Republicans yelled “Not true, not true.”

When she later began to say that voters should be embarrassed that the government doesn’t provide universal health care for all citizens, someone yelled “We are embarrassed by you.”

What was that about Democrats being the rude ones?

The Paducah Sun is the most pitiful excuse of a newspaper — at least since Jimmy Paxton has been running it…into the ground. He is the mouthpiece of the Republican Party and the Chamber of Commerce — neither very progressive!! At least back in the day Jack Paxton ran a legitimate exercise in news gathering.

Heather doesn’t scare me. She amuses me. She’s the Ron Paul — or, for an earlier generation, the Gus Hall — of the Kentucky congressional candidates.
