TGIF! RNC IS OVER! Everyone Thank Jeebus!

September 5th, 2008 · 19 Comments

Did you see the hot mess the RNC produced about 9/11 last night? Or the stuff about the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995? FEAR! TERRA! 9/11! JIHAD! HOMO PINKO TERRA!!!! STOP THE DIMOCRATZ!!! USA!! USA!! USA!! USA!! USA!! USA!! USA!! HENRY KISSINGER! NEVER FORGET! USA!! [RNC Coverage]

Even Jim Bunning says Anne Northup has a hard row to hoe. It’s over for her. But keep on sitting in denial, folks. Keep on with it. [Trey Pollard]

Grampa Abe McCain on the metric system. The metric system is the tool of the devil!!! [The Tubes]

Mitch McConnell refuses to return contributions from indicted Leonard Lawson. More importantly, Greg Stumbo refuses to return his dirty money. Ben Chandler hasn’t decided, because he still has difficulty making decisions by himself. Susan Westrom is playing the church mouse game. And Steve Robertson won’t chime in. Hopefully everyone will grow a set and return the dirty money. [PolWatchers]

Remember Harvey Milk? Surely you’ve seen the documentary. This November a movie (Milk) starring Sean Penn as Harvey Milk will be in theaters. Go watch the trailer. And hold your gay-hating for another day, closet cases. (We broke our glasses so we’re extra-mean today.) [Barefoot & Progressive]

Oh snap! Denise Harper Angel gets told! Her opponent, Scott Ritcher, has written an open letter to her requesting that she drop her retarded-ass lawsuit against him for trying to run for office. And he chaps her rear over the crazy corporate and special interest contributions she’s raked in. [Mark Hebert]

Nice bigoted slip there: “her retarded-ass”.

You should strive to be better thatn those you report on.

  • 2 jake // Sep 5, 2008 at 9:17 am

You should learn to fucking READ.

    I said “her retarded-ass lawsuit” – I didn’t call her retarded.

    But thanks for spinning, jackass.

And people? READ BEFORE COMMENTING. Jesus Christ.

  • 3 SwishPan McGee // Sep 5, 2008 at 10:34 am

How dare you say that Jesus is retarded and on top of that–claim a spinning jackass can’t read!!

I would have expecded moor form yuo!

  • 4 John Galt // Sep 5, 2008 at 11:03 am

OK so as long as the word retarded is used within certain contexts you deem it inoffensive? and appropriate? So you wouldn’t mind if soemone referred to it as a “niggardly lawsuit”, or a “gay assed lawsuit”?

Just asking for some more compassionate thought here.

Haha. I love how you keep spinning. First you take what I said out of context and then comment with some racist tripe.

Move along, hack. I hope you’re not Denise posing as someone named John.

So “major” party candidates are not required to collect signatures in order to be on the ballot but other candidates do? And they can dispute the collected signatures of other candidates? Sounds fair?

Hell, if you can’t beat ‘em, sue ‘em!

Denise’s only hope is to rig the election like they all do. I see Scott’s signs all over the Highlands and none of her’s.

If you really want your vote to count, vote with your dollars. Buy Made-in-USA, alternative media, and boycott big food and gas companies.

I don’t think there’s any doubt that Denise will win.

It’s just ridiculous to file suit over something so trivial.

No wonder her reputation among House Democrats has slipped lately.

Denise Angel wasting judicial resources to further her chances for “election” reflects an acknowledgement that her consituency may seek alternative representation, not to mention irresponsibility and fiscal mismanagement.

  • 10 Melissa Guidry // Sep 5, 2008 at 1:51 pm

Well, not that her constituency may seek irresponsibility and fiscal mismanagement, but rather that her law suit reflects those qualities …

    Thanks. Really.

  • 11 jake // Sep 5, 2008 at 1:52 pm

So her ego is not at all involved?

  • 12 Jeff Lippie // Sep 5, 2008 at 3:31 pm

This is Kentucky politics as usual. Denise Harper Angel is just another special interest servant , she could care less what the voting public wants, especially a choice. Her way of serving Louisville and the contributors to her campaign may publicly state they are not afraid of 3rd party hopefuls, but their actions always speak differenst.

@jake: John Galt “racist tripe” also shows lack of ability to se a dictionary:

    niggardly |ˈnigərdlē|
    adjective
not generous; stingy : serving out the rations with a niggardly hand.
    • meager; scanty : their share is a niggardly 2.7 percent.

  • 14 Joel // Sep 5, 2008 at 5:43 pm

Wow, c’mon. “Niggardly” isn’t even remotely related to the racial epithet:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Niggardly

Amazing that the David Howard incident was almost a decade ago.

Also hey Jake I bet you don’t know this, but there’s a really kick-ass (ie, not retarded-ass) heavy metal band from Georgia called Harvey Milk! Probably not your speed, but they’re pretty good.

  • 15 jake // Sep 5, 2008 at 5:44 pm

foresmac: A person using the same email address as the above commenter almost always says something racist every time I mention Barack Obama’s name and I have to remove their comment. So they have a history of using the n-word. But thanks for the concern about my ability to comprehend words.

  • 16 Joel // Sep 5, 2008 at 5:47 pm

by “above commenter” you better not mean me, dude!

  • 17 jake // Sep 5, 2008 at 5:49 pm

Nope. Was responding before I’d even read your comment. Sorry for any confusion.

  • 18 yellowdawg // Sep 5, 2008 at 6:27 pm

The RNC video tribute to 9/11 was unbelievable. Glad to see at least one talking head — Keith Olbermann — comment on its inappropriate, over-the-top fearmongering last night.

I think a bit of focus here could be helpful. Unless you’re looking forward to the day when you can make your firstborn’s “black-lung” diagnosis official.

How about this? Does anyone have suggestions re who should get the tap to lead Mr. Ritcher’s legal team? At the rate evident in similar proceedings, I’d hope that he’d have ’til his second term (at least) before worrying about who to go with… But it never hurts to plan ahead.
