Sunday Afternoon Update Dept of Laziness & TV

August 31st, 2008 · 18 Comments

Some linkies for you on your boring Sunday afternoon of gluttony and television! It’s a holiday weekend so we probably won’t be doing much on these interets for a couple days. So enjoy it, folks, and eat lots and lots so we may live vicariously through you.

Mitch McConnell says Palin is a good pick and the rest of the country giggles. Check the last paragraph with quotes from some racist kid. [WFIE]

More on the firing/forced resignation of Gilbert Newman from the Transportation Cabinet. This isn’t looking too pretty for the KYTC. [State Journal]

In an editorial the Herald-Leader says there has been no progress but partisan gridlock since the 2006 crash of Comair Flight 5191 in Lexington. [H-L]

You’re in Kentucky, right? So you’re familiar with the daily discovery of a meth lab in your neighborhood. If you’re a regular viewer of the A&E program Intervention, you’ll appreciate this screwed up video of Kristin Chenoweth playing an interventionist for a meth head. It’s kimd of hilarious. [YouTube]

Kentucky will be caring for potentially 4,000 thousand Hurricane Gustav evacuees. Steve Beshear and Jerry Abramson are turning it into a photo op, of course, and will “visit” hurricane evacuees shortly after 1:00 P.M. today. Yes, the Governor & Mayor had the gall to send out a media advisory about it. [C-J]

Check out the Republican reaction to Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. Beautiful rainbows indeed. [Barefoot & Progressive]

“From Mitch, Anne, & Bobby–to Barack”

    What a wonderful world contrast
on this Labor Day weekend blast.
Spent it miles away from Felner crap,
registerin’ happy voters into Obama’s lap.
Not in Kentuck, but a neighbor state–
    it doesn’t cotton to a Mitch-Anne date.
Such sublime removal from their tricks,
I sweated in the sun, but still had kicks.
Mighty humid day, tee shirt smelled foul:
“We Got Felner” gotta last stinkin’ bow.

P.S. Failin’ Palin ruse will have McSame singin’
    the blues.

    Hey Stupid Racist Kid,

You can’t use the Obama has no experience line anymore.

The Sarah Palin story is great. Thanks wow. I had a great weekend laugh. Hope its true. Even if it is not, Rachel Maddow reported about the craziness of the birth so that part makes the woman look nuts enough.

Gilbert Newman is talking about suing? He has no case whatsoever.

In the first place, he was a non-merit employee. That means you can be fired if a higher-up doesn’t like the tie you have on that morning.

And in the second place, he resigned. Yes, he was told to resign, but he resigned. He could have refused to resign and thus been fired, which would have been proof that his separation was not of his own free will.

I think he might sue for slander

What a disgusting Palin story. Just so everyone is crystal clear, the picture of Bristol is from 2006. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Here is how little experience Obama has: Palin has him beat. 2 years as a Governor, I will take that over 2 as a Senator any day. (yes I know he has technically been in the Senate for four years, but not really a day to day member for two)

She has executive experience, running a budget, making decisions, not votes. She has run a commercial fishing business. She has run a town. And before you say Alaska is too small, it’s the largest in land mass which adds complications not seen in other states. Also, at 600,000 it’s the same size as Delaware. Who is from Delaware again?

And let’s not ignore that Obama is the #1 on the ticket. It’s a nice try at diversion, but honestly keep bringing up experience.

    3card nana:
Whether Bristol or Sarah is the mother, it is clear that Bristol is going to serve the role of mother for this child’s mother because Sarah is not going to be there.

It’s not about experience, it’s about judgement. What does it say about McCain’s judgement to pick a total unknown two months before the election to be his running mate? He’s asking the american people to “trust me” on this one? ..when he just met her?

And does it show good judgement on her part to want to be vice president when she just prematurely delivered a baby with down syndrome? She is young with lots of time to fulfill her well hidden ambitions of being president. These people are nuts! We don’t need more of the same knee jerk, impulsive “leaders”.

So… Repubs can justify their race-bating, their muslim-terraist-fear talk and all that jazz… but they can’t deal with making fun of John McCain’s #2?

    Oh, the irony.

Hopefully you guys on the right will keep talking about how strong Palin is on national security… because Alaksa is right by Russia. HAHA.

What a sexist comment to believe that a woman can’t juggle both jobs. If someone said that about a high powered exec woman, they would be hung.

As for your unknown concern, look her up on this thing they call the internet. Find her 2006 debate. Find things you like and dislike about her. Then make a decision. Maybe even let her campaign and debate Biden. It’s a novel concept I know. If you don’t like her, don’t vote for McCain. When did we stop having that right?

And it is about the smear job on Bristol. It is a disgusting report and to sidestep it shows how little class you have.

  • 12 mike // Sep 1, 2008 at 10:23 am

she did win the mayor race in
    CITY OF WASILLA
OCTOBER 5, 1999 REGULAR ELECTION with 909 votes
doesn’t make her good VP pick for the Republicans !!

  • 13 jake // Sep 1, 2008 at 10:31 am

Like I said… oh, the irony.

Dishing it but can’t take it? That must suck.

Ha! I knew claims of sexism would come back as a lame argument. No one is saying that women couldn’t or shouldn’t handle both jobs. Listen to me carefully – it’s about judgement.

And try this sexist argument on for size – the only reason McCain picked her is because she is a woman. “Lookey here at my new bright shiny object! Vote for me!”

And now that we officially know that Bristol is pregnant – 5 months they say – Bristol can be the mother for both her child and her child’s aunt! Damn, thank goodness they aren’t from KY, we would never live this down as a state.

  • 16 Sirico // Sep 1, 2008 at 1:46 pm

    Republican CNN pundit Ed Rollins:

“don’t assume she can’t stand toe-to-toe with Joe Biden. She is a great debater. And she was runner-up for the Miss Alaska title, won Miss Congeniality in that contest and plays the flute.”

    Classic!!! -LOL

  • 17 Always Amazed // Sep 1, 2008 at 2:05 pm

Sorry – I meant to say Bristol can be the mother for both her child and her child’s uncle.

  • 18 Sirico // Sep 1, 2008 at 2:29 pm

I don’t understand. Does this make Sarah Palin an aunt-mommy???

    (lol)
