The Republicans are trying to figure out everything they possibly complain about. The latest Fox News Channel blast, I guess, is that the selection of Joe Biden means Barack Obama isn’t ready to be a grown up or something. [Marcus Carey]
What is it with newspaper editors in Kentucky who have terrible grammar? The editor of the Murray Ledger & Times should probably know by now that it’s DemocratIC businessman, not Democrat businessman. When you’re a newspaper editor? [Ledger & Times]
Larry Dale Keeling says Bruce Lunsford doesn’t go over well on the stump. Larry says he doesn’t know a good exit line when he uses them and is faux folksy. What do you think? [H-L]
Interestingly enough, Al Cross paints a picture of Bruce Lunsford being someone who is great at debate. And he makes the point that the public could give two shits less whether or not someone is good on the stump when their opponent is the root of all corruption in the country. Oh, the little things. [C-J]
Ever wondered what it’s like to watch someone totally not get satire? Then read this story. One’s cluelessness would have to rival Jennifer Moore’s inability to run a political party in order not to get this story. Jesus, people, wtf is wrong with you? Check the comments out to see what I’m talking about. [Barefoot & Progressive]
Is Joe Gerth out of touch? He says Ben Chandler is considered to be the Democrats’ top pick for Bunning’s seat. HAHAHA. He even mentions Jerry Abramson. So we have to wonder who Joe is getting his intel from these days. [C-J]
Greg Stumbo is in for a rude awakening if he thinks he has enough votes to oust Jody Richards as Speaker of the House. He must not realize that Larry Clark isn’t a kingmaker. Funny that he’d quote Bruce Lunsford, after spreading horse poo about his campaign last year. Said Bruce lost the gubernatorial nod because the campaign didn’t use his (Stumbo’s) ideas. Heh. Oh, the memories. [H-L]

DemocratIC Businessman is the proper usage. Democratic is an adjective.

Jake – Your political radar is off a little on the Stumbo-Richards showdown…

I’ve spoken to nearly every State House member over the past couple weeks and there’s no way Greg has the votes he needs/will even get close.
(And this is coming from me, someone who thinks Jody needs to retire PRONTO)

Democrat businessman is just fine, like Gail said. Democrat is also an adjective when used in this way, as is Republican. Nouns become adjectives all the time, depending on usage. Democratic would imply that the businessman was a holder of the principles of democracy, not that he was a member of a political party. I know it won’t stop you from hurling smart- aleck remarks at me, but I do have a master’s in English and Education. It is your blog, however, and you have a right to be wrong if it makes you happy.

I’m not an English major but I thought capitalization was the key.
Democratic, with a capital “D”, when used in the middle of a sentence would describe a member of a political party.
Democratic, without a capital “d”, when used in the middle of a sentence would imply that the businessman was a holder of the principles of democracy, not that he was a member of a political party.

Democrat isn’t an adjective and there is no such thing as the Democrat Party.
It’s DemocratIC.
