WHAS11′s Adam Walser has Robert Felner’s telephone records. And they’re verrrry interesting. And questionable at the very least.
Felner was assigned a cell phone that was paid for by the University of Louisville and he made extensive use of it. Here are some of the calls he made:
- Jennifer Taylor – 58 times, often at night and on weekends
- Calls Comcast in Naples, FL – in Lee Co where Felner owns two homes
- Called his estranged wife dozens of times. At one point just minutes before calling his “hugs” buddy Tom Schroeder.
- Once instance of 100 data transmissions on his cell phone within a 23-hour period right after he learned he would be Chancelor at UW Parkside
- And who did Felner call more than 50 times at (502) 648-7012? Anyone have information?
- He called a local dating hotline twice last August
Interesting, eh?
As always, we’ll add a link to Walser’s story once it’s online.
Here’s the link to Walser’s story.
UPDATE: Turns out the number 502.648.7012 belongs to Natalie Stiglitz. At some point she rolled the telephone number into a UofL-paid account with AT&T. According to sources at the university, Stiglitz has initiated a number change as a result of the public revelation of Felner’s shenanigans.
Since it’s paid for by UofL, we assume we can obtain information via open records requests.

net search says it’s a Louisville based cell phone and service is with Verizon Wireless.

ed, provide those of us who suffered under Felner with some comic relief and comment on the dating hotline…..
3 ed // Aug 21, 2008 at 8:41 pm
Two calls to a dating hot line? He must have given his real name the first time, and they hung up on him. On the second call, they told him they charged by the pound…so he hung up.
Hey, Robbie, does huggie bear know about these hot line calls? Just can’t figure out which side of the closet door to be on, huh?
Well….no worries….Bubba will help you sort all that out soon enough.
4 Give us a break... // Aug 21, 2008 at 9:39 pm
ed, are you saying that 3 UofL checks worth a total of $450,000 couldn’t buy him even ONE date????
5 jake // Aug 21, 2008 at 9:40 pm
For the record: I would go on a date with ANYBODY for $450,000.
So if anyone has $450K sitting around in a sack or whatever, give me a yell.
6 ed // Aug 21, 2008 at 9:59 pm
Yeah….like he was offering anyone 450. He and huggie bear were stashing all that away so they could buy a private island where they could run naked on the sand.
Oh, God….I think I just made myself sick.
7 alan harbig // Aug 21, 2008 at 10:11 pm
Jake, you’d go on a date for a lot less than that. Just saying.
8 jake // Aug 21, 2008 at 10:12 pm
Hey, I never said I wouldn’t go on a date for $4.50!
9 ed // Aug 21, 2008 at 10:22 pm
Jake,
It wouldn’t be a date, but seeing your price is so reasonable, maybe I’ll fly in for the trial and buy you a beer.
Er…did I mention that it wouldn’t be a date?

(502) 648-7012 maps to a cell phone registered at Liberty Court and 10th Street according to whitepages.com
Try it here:

Can’t put too much stock in that white pages search… all of my phone numbers map to that same location. Ha.

How much more evidence is needed before some of Louisville’s Finest can pick up Blobby to come downtown and try out a cot for size? Multiple out of state residences constitutes a flight-risk in my book.
13 Give us a break... // Aug 22, 2008 at 1:07 am
ed, apparently there were some CEHD females who found the image of Bobby naked to their liking…
14 SheWho // Aug 22, 2008 at 1:48 am
I suspect the mystery cell phone may belong to Felner’s other blonde squeeze.
15 tbrauch // Aug 22, 2008 at 4:28 am
Surely by now someone on here has “accidentally” made a wrong number call to that number. Somebody? Anybody?
If it’s a cellphone, someone send a wrong number text message. Something like “Hey, haven’t talked to you in a while how are you doing?” text message.

Break,
I suppose you’re right, but it’s hard to fathom. Especially when I think of the early picture Jake had of him standing at the podium. MAN!! That was painful to look at. I’m pretty sure he had stored a small animal in his gullet just before he got up there.
But, if you’re sure women were looking at that and thinking about tossing their panties up there, then maybe we need to pay attention to that and you and I should open a chain of Chins-R-Us stores.
Pictures of Felner….the women…and our slogan would be, “Why be skinny when you can be chinny?” Maybe we’d even carry a line of prosthetic chins.
Hey….I figure if people can make small fortunes selling pet rocks, wet tee shirts in bottles and canned Florida sunshine, we’d be a shoe-in.
And before we knew what hit us, they’d be calling us the Chin Boys.
18 Wait a Minute // Aug 22, 2008 at 7:25 am
You may need to hire Jennifer Taylor and Natalie Stiglitz as consultants to your company. Seems they were both sleeping with Felner within the same time period while he was still married to his wife. 3 blondes at once. Impressive. Felner had some secret and those women must know what it is. I hope it is not as mundane as 4 fancy houses.
19 ed // Aug 22, 2008 at 7:32 am
Well, Minute, I just cannot let myself believe he had any….um….race horse qualities, so Break and I will be betting the farm on the chins. You want in? There were 3 Pep Boys, so maybe we should have 3 Chin Boys.
20 Give us a break... // Aug 22, 2008 at 8:42 am
Now ed, some of us are women on this blog, evaluating Bobby from a female point of view. I can’t remember exactly what my mother taught me, but it was something related to how many chins a man has….
21 Need A Shovel // Aug 22, 2008 at 9:12 am
I don’t think it is much of a mystery that some women are attracted to powerful and arrogant men. Attractiveness or sexual prowess has never been a requirment. During Robert’s first years, the young women just followed him everywhere he went — his personal wisp of snipe.
22 Tirnstile // Aug 22, 2008 at 9:17 am
Jake, I think it’s time to officially shut this blog down. ha ha!
23 Give us a break... // Aug 22, 2008 at 9:22 am
Yes, he sent out his swarm of young female GAs to spread nasty stories about faculty he didn’t like. He was a master manipulator and would use anyone from president to student. They should all be ashamed regardless of how much power they had or hadn’t.
24 beenfollowing // Aug 22, 2008 at 9:25 am
Just recently, there was a strong push to have both Natalie and Jennifer handed tenure track appointments in the college, sort of a going away present I guess. From what I understand, his croonies didn’t have enough power left to pull this one off, but we’ll keep watching and see. The college of ed is full of unqualified persons, running the show and telling those who worked hard to earn the keep what to do.

Tirnstile,
I was thinking much the same. Jake must be reading this thread thinking….so this is what happens when a blog goes bad!!!
27 ict // Aug 22, 2008 at 10:07 am
I have been following this with much interest – and biting my tongue – these past few months. Seeems like history repeating for some of us who knew him in Illinois. I lived with Robert for eight years in Champaign (please let me just say that he has NOT aged well) and I suspect it was probably the longest relationship he had sustained in his adult life. (Found this blog when a friend at another university sent it to me after the story broke) The personal stuff doesn’t surprize me at all – I found the very same type of call history on his phone records when I was with him. Calls to me, the Illinois ex, and the new girlfriend(s) – all within minutes of each other. He was a bottomless pit of need for affection and adoration. I left him during the transition to Rhode Island, when it became clear he was leading a double – or triple, whatever – life. He told me when me met that he was suffereing from terminal prostrate cancer that had mestastisized to his brain and bones and had six months to live, and believe me, he milked it in his relationships. Said he wanted to return to the East Coast to die. Amazing how he has hung on, isn’t it?
I also did work with him – and yes, I am blonde, as was that ex in Illinois. However, in my forties I am now relieved to me too old for him.
Those of us who know him always knew the chances of him settling in somewhere were practically nonexistent.

It will be interesting to see how this unfolds.

“Fomenting Metastasis”
So, ict, Blobby lied about cancer?
his victims thank you,
shows he lies at will
for the thrill, for the kill.
he seems as obscene,
as abominable and mean
as the cancer that takes lives.
we should feel anger at him,
burn his skin clean.
if he gets depressed,
losing all hope and self-esteem,
he will feel worse than cancer–
like the “big C” he grew
in the CEHD and UofHell.
for psychopaths, lying about
anything comes too easy.
32 wc // Aug 22, 2008 at 12:16 pm
Oh, ict!
Thank you for writing. I have to admit I laughed and laughed while reading it. But what an extraordinary thing for you to do. You sound like a very healthy woman.
33 ict // Aug 22, 2008 at 12:51 pm
Thanks! It has taken some time, but like everyone who has been hurt by this man, you move forward with great relief that you are no longer dealing with the drama and the falsehoods.
I am sure that there are people in his life who truly care about him and have been hurt beyond measure by what has transpired. His personal behaviors simply mirrored his professional actions. There was no story too outrageous, no gesture too extravagant – be it salaries or personal gifts….homes perhaps? – to employ if it served his purpose. The need to “court” and create intimate relationships with as many women, colleagues, institutions or friends as possible is totally in charactor for him.
As I said, this hasn’t been totally unexpected by a lot of people, but I have personally been mortified by how out of control some of those behaviors had become once he arrived in Louisville. (Oh, wait – there WAS that cancer thing, wasn’t there?)
I will be interested to see if the above comes up later when the investigation is finished and consequences may be decided.
34 wc // Aug 22, 2008 at 1:09 pm
I am stopped in my tracks over this.
35 ed // Aug 22, 2008 at 1:10 pm
ict,
I have a sensitive question, and hope I’m not out of line. If so…just put me back in. If I were to wager a guess, it would be that many here are wondering the same thing. Of course, I could be wrong. If so, my apologies in advance.
You said you’ve been reading this site, so you know the question has arisen regarding the women in his life. Seeing him as we have, has made us wonder what it was about him….what was the initial draw…or attraction? Did he have this “nice guy” thing he was able to click on and off? (I think people like him, in fact, do). I know you mentioned the extravagance of the courting, and I understand the impact that may have. But, during that time, did he see to be just a normal guy trying to impress a woman?
If I may continue….. Eight years is quite some time. Was he “normal” during most of that? Did the outrageousness creep up? The abusiveness I’ve seen in him was pretty extreme by the time I knew him, but it felt to me like a way of life for him..and not really anything new.
And, in case you aren’t aware, that cancer thing was a line he used many times…in many places. Sadly, it doesn’t seem as though it’s true.
I know I would be…and suspect many here would as well…interested to hear whatever you’d like to share about that.
Again…my apologies of this is out of line.
36 jake // Aug 22, 2008 at 1:12 pm
I appreciate the dialogue here. But could we please avoid all of Felner’s personal life? Am fine with comments from people from his past and all that… but let’s keep it 100% relevant.
I know some of this discussion is pertinent to the matter at hand… just don’t want it to devolve into some big, hot mess.
37 ed // Aug 22, 2008 at 1:18 pm
I wasn’t aware that was off limits. Sorry about that.
38 jake // Aug 22, 2008 at 1:23 pm
Definitely wasn’t off-limits. Just don’t want the rest of the discussion to devolve.
No worries!
39 ed // Aug 22, 2008 at 1:26 pm
Hell, devolving is what we do best!!!!
I’m kidddinggg. Point taken.
40 Give us a break... // Aug 22, 2008 at 1:26 pm
Of course he “courted” “relationships” – although I’m not sure that’s what I would call them as he seems incapable of having a true intimate relationship with anyone – he uses people. So he courted them to get what he wanted – money, adulation, sex, etc.
I was more impressed by his determination to destroy anyone who he perceived to have crossed him in any way – which included just disagreeing with his opinions – or anyone who he perceived to be weaker in some way. He didn’t just want to get, get, get. He wanted to hurt, hurt, hurt. I have never, in my entire life, met anyone who took such delight in hurting others with cruel words. He is a very, very angry and sick man.
Those who supported him and/or hung on to him for favors/resources, whatever – his enablers – played a large role in what he was. He couldn’t have gotten away with what he did – at place after place after place – if others hadn’t supported him or looked the other way. These people saw what he was doing but did nothing to stop him because they were getting something from the “relationship.”
We can hope it’s the end of it for both Felner and his enablers.
41 Gettingsick // Aug 22, 2008 at 1:40 pm
He is truly a sick man who also made others sick. Now we are even more sick of thinking about him.
42 Tirnstile // Aug 22, 2008 at 2:30 pm
I now retract post #22. Please don’t shut down the blog, Jake! :)
p.s. Bless you, ict.

I think it is too soon to tell about his “enablers” future. I do hope some changes are made, but I don’t expect much to happen immediately. If I had to bet money — I would bet no changes until after NCATE visit — and then all bets are off.
