Sometimes you get so busy you just look up at the calendar and realize a whole year has gone by.

I guess that’s how Jake and I missed realizing that yesterday was our media operation’s first birthday. It was Aug. 13, 2007 that we launched Page One and re-launched The ‘Ville Voice. Our goal was, and is, to create a whole new online media operation, one that not only competes with mainstream media for news stories and readership, but takes local and statewide online journalism in Louisville and Kentucky to a new level. And have some fun along the way.

More than 3,000 posts later, we can tout a few accomplishments, like astronomical traffic, a loyal base of regular readers (thank you, thank you) and the attention of every public official in the city and state. We launched a sister site, ‘Ville Voice Eats and have a marketing agreement with BillyReedSays. We did win a prestigious “Best of Louisville” award (Ed note from Jake: “prestigious” – HAHA), and have made all kinds of TV and Radio appearances. We’ve published dozens and dozens of exclusive stories, and made our sites a regular stop for everybody who’s anybody in the state.

We’ve even been threatened with lawsuits, a source of pride for any journalism enterprise, including once just this week.

We’re even members of Greater Louisville Inc.

What’s next? We’re just getting started. So stay tuned.

P.S. Where is our birthday cake, ladies!? I didn’t even get a gift.
