I recall former President John Adams saying that on his HBO mini series special. I believe that was the justification for the mini-series getting the Emmy nomination announced this morning.

    BESHEAR STATEMENT STUNS INSIDERS
    Beshear talks political future

(FRANKFORT, KY) – After weeks of discussion in the halls of the state capitol, Governor Steve Beshear broke his silence today about his latest Survey USA poll numbers. Beshear has typically not commented on previous results.

“Any time an incumbent’s support level get into the low 50s, the situation is clearly competitive and the incumbent’s status in jeopardy,” Beshear said.

In his 2:00 pm press conference, Beshear surprised a room of Frankfort reporters with an admission that he was indeed considering the possibility of not running for re-election as governor but may choose instead to run for Clark County Surveyor.

Adam Edelen, who just recently became Beshear’s chief-of-staff, refused comment on how the decision may affect his own future. Edelen did offer one tidbit, adding “a surveyor needs someone to help hold the tripod.”

The 2011 election is three years away. Other potential candidates include former Governor Isaac Shelby, whose campaign spokesman says Shelby will offer an alternative to Beshear saying he’ll take the Commonwealth even further back than the 1980′s, in fact, to the 1780′s. Shelby added he’ll appoint individuals like Daniel Boone to his cabinet.

Beshear’s Transportation Cabinet Secretary Joe Prather jumped into the fray commenting that “Daniel Boone was a man…he was a good man.” Prather lived next door to Boone until a device called a traffic light was installed at the entrance to their neighborhood. Boone disliked the contraption and moved to the one horse town of Frankfort where he now resides on a plot of land located on a bluff overlooking Frankfort and the new domed building downtown.

Other candidates are expected to take on Beshear offering similar promises of taking Kentucky back even further to the good ole days.

Otis Hensley said it about Ben Chandler when he considered running against him for Attorney General.

Gotta figure there’s major irony involved, so I’ll say John McCain said it about Bill Clinton in the 2000 Bush-Gore race.

Scott Rasmussen has said that in regards to just about every Senate race in the country.

Karl Rove said it about Bill Clinton in the 1996 presidential election, but he has deleted all emails connnected to it; and adamently denies having made the statement.
