Man, Stephenie Steitzer is really hammering out the good stuff these days. She has the story today about Jim Sullivan, a man convicted on a misdemeanor charge of attempting to tamper with a jury during the 1989 trial of Jerry Lundergan. (No, the issue here isn’t Jerry Lundergan– it’s Sullivan. Stay focused.)
Sullivan was appointed to the Crime Victims Compensation Board and receives $1,500 per month. He’s also Chairman of the Board of Claims and receives $5,000 per year to sit on the lottery board.
FRANKFORT, Ky. — Gov. Steve Beshear has appointed a Frankfort man convicted 18 years ago on a misdemeanor charge of attempted jury tampering to the Crime Victims Compensation Board and the Board of Claims.
James F. Sullivan, who contributed to Beshear’s campaign last year, as did his wife, was appointed to the two boards effective July 1.
He also serves on the Kentucky Lottery board — appointed by former Gov. Ernie Fletcher, Beshear’s predecessor.
-SNIP-
Sullivan was in state government for more than 32 years before retiring in 2001 amid an investigation of the Kentucky Department of Vehicle Regulation regarding allegations of manipulation or alteration of driver records. Sullivan was the staff assistant to the department’s commissioner.
Make sure you read the rest.
Somebody needs to get us a nice seat on a PAYING board!

You can’t get a job scooping up dog shit in this state if you have so much as a jaywalking ticket on your record, but a generously-donating convicted jury-tamperer gets a plum denied to people who worked their asses off to get Beshear elected.
Guess the rules on criminal background checks don’t apply to the Governor’s Office.

The fact that the Governor has stated that he did not know . . . is just another Beshear BS statement.
So, Governor if you did not know—who did and how as the discovery made AFTER THE FACT?
As all appointments by a Governor originate from some individual or an association with a corporation, then perhaps Beshear did not know.
If he did not, then the first reaction should not just say . . .”I was not aware!” but, “”As a result of this misguided appointment and the circumstances associated with the appointee, today I have asked for the resignation of (whomever the dim bulb) and withdraw the appointment. (Which I think he has . .. not sure)
Now that is a GOVERNOR that has his sights focused, as he has stated many times . . . More responsible behavior of public officials.
I just wanna say!

People, the story is just the tip of the iceberg associated with James Sullivan and the many people he has got non merit jobs for under this Beshear administration. There is so much more.

This is disgusting.
If Beshear didn’t know about this guy’s criminal history when he appointed him, he knows it now, and he should get him out of there.
