A few kids on Facebook seem to think they can get Jonathan Miller to run for Jim Bunning’s U.S. Senate seat in 2010. (Ben Ray has more on Jonathan rebuilding his political career post-2007 gubernatorial primary.)
The ‘Draft Jonathan Miller 2010 – U.S. Senate for KY’ Facebook group says, “Jim Bunning must be forced into retirement during his next election. Jonathan Miller is the one to do that… Please join this group to show your support for Jonathan Miller!”
And here’s Jonathan’s public response that was posted by him on that Facebook group’s main page:
Hey friends,
This is very kind and awfully flattering. But… I’m focused this year on helping Governor Beshear and ditching Mitch. We can worry about Bunning later.
Thanks again, Jonathan
As Ben points out, that’s not exactly a denial from Jonathan. But the reality is that Senate seat is Jack Conway’s. Not Daniel Mongiardo’s. Not Jonathan Miller’s. We personally like Jonathan quite a bit, but, let’s get real here. Him taking the Senate seat in 2010 is not going to happen.
Jonathan is more likely to do something with state government where he can try to make a difference than he is to hop off to Washington.
Let’s try to leave personal attacks out of any comments made on this post, folks.

I think it’s reasonable that Jack Conway has the best shot, but how do you reach the conclusion that the Democratic nomination belongs to Jack and it is “his”. Are we saying the same thing here?

It’s his in the sense that he basically has the nomination locked up. No one can beat him in a primary at this point.
Not his in the sense that it belongs to him.

I’d say he is far and away the favorite. Lots can happen before the primary. He’ll have my vote.

Not Jack Conway’s. It’s Ben Chandler’s!

Is a personal attack to mention Gatewood beat Skippy in the gubernatorial primary?

Jack can run an ad talking about how he’s been so tough on internet crimes that he himself became a victim AFTER he announced the new cybercrimes unit.

You really think Chandler would step out of his comfort zone in the 6th district for another statewide race? Not going to happen… he might have to venture out of the Golden Triangle and actually act like a Democrat to run against Bunning.
