Mitch McConnell recently re-filed his U.S. Senate campaign’s Statement of Organization. Boring and plain, right? That’s almost always the case with mundane campaign finance documents. But not in McConnell’s case.
It seems Kentucky’s Senior Senator is not only a bit disconnected from reality– he’s disconnected from Kentucky altogether. His latest statement of organization only contains two names of contact and they’re individuals in Washington, D.C. No one from a campaign based in Kentucky (is there a campaign based in Kentucky?) could be rounded up, apparently. Even his campaign treasurer lives in INDIANA! It’s obvious these folks have no connection to Kentucky or they’d be able to spell Bardstown Road correctly– it wouldn’t appear as Bardsdown Road on an official document.
Out of three banks his campaign uses, only one is based in Kentucky and it’s Republic Bank. The others are Congressional Bank in richie rich land of Potomac, Maryland and Wachovia in the D.C. suburbs of McLean, Virginia. Can’t the man be bothered to do business in a state he allegedly represents the interests of in the United States Senate?
The least Mitch McConnell could do is pretend to like Kentucky.
