Former United Nations weapons inspector Scott Ritter will be at the Clifton Center (our neighborhood!) in Louisville this Thursday to discuss, well, everything that’s effed up.
Ritter was one of the most senior weapons inspectors in Iraq between 1991 and 1998. To call him the most informed person in the world about the faux weapons crisis in Iraq would be the understatement of a century. He understands American shortcomings in the Persian Gulf and has been screaming from the rooftop for about a decade about our blunders there. He went back to Iraq in 2000 to film the documentary In Shifting Sands: The Truth of UNSCOM and the Disarming of Iraq that offered an unfiltered view of the U.S. from the international community’s perspective while focusing on international justice and global security.
He was the lone guy to launch a series of additional Iraqi weapons inspections before the U.S. invaded. The U.N. and U.S. both promised to support Ritter’s effort but behind closed doors they decided to invade no matter the circumstance. He resigned in protest proclaiming, the “illusion of arms control is more dangerous than no arms control at all.”

Don’t miss hearing Scott Ritter on Thursday 6/26. He spoke in Louisville in Oct. 2002 and said that Iraq had no WMD, was not involved in 9/11, and that a US invasion of Iraq would be a disaster.
Ritter was 3 for 3 in 2002. Listen to what he has to say at the Clifton Center about US plans for military action against IraN.
