It was just a couple weeks ago when Jerry Lundergan told dozens upon dozens of people that Greg Stumbo would soon be sending out a letter stating that he is absolutely not getting into the Speaker Pro-Tem’s race and would be supporting Joni Jenkins. That’s Jerry Lundergan– Greg Stumbo’s #1 guy. He always knows what Greg is up to. Always. So keep that in mind.

We hate to make enemies but we’ve gotta point out an area where we think Greg is being at least partially dishonest.

Stumbo told the Herald-Leader that he had spoken to Joni Jenkins, whom we support for Speaker Pro-Tem, and told her that he wouldn’t be supporting her.

Stumbo said he has received calls from both Clark and Jenkins.

“I told Joni, when she called me, I love you but I just can’t commit to you. That may be something I still choose run for,” he said.

Was Jerry Lundergan lying to the dozens of people we’ve spoken to or is Greg Stumbo fudging the facts now that he realizes Rocky Adkins and Jody Richards aren’t going anywhere? We are inclined to believe Jerry and that says to us what Greg told to Joni was quite a bit different than what he told Ryan Alessi.

We all know Greg wants a leadership post to use for an upcoming run for governor. So wouldn’t it be interesting if Joni trounced him for Speaker Pro-Tem? And wouldn’t it be wise not to let conflicting stories out of the bag?

Also, three dudes from eastern Kentucky on the leadership team at the same time? Not gonna happen. It’d be a miracle if both Rocky and John Will could make it at the same time.
