Rose– I’m wondering if the massive support we’re seeing is measurable by polling. The crowd seemed to be the type who wouldn’t get called during polling because they’ve never really voted before or haven’t done so regularly. That seems to be what has happened in states like Indiana.

Guess we’ll never know about the rural crowds, since he jumped ship for some silly vote in D.C. The guy needs to spend a good couple weeks in Kentucky. I have a feeling that would help him quite a bit.

You’re preaching to the choir here about senate race’s feeling of amateur hour! That’s what we’ve been saying for months.

From an analytical standpoint, I will be very interested in seeing if Rock Star = President. I will also be interested in seeing if Obama’s massive support in urban Louisville will make any difference in KY on election day. If Obama can pull in such a massive crowd in L-ville (biggest and most electric ever) why is he getting creamed in all the Kentucky polling? Due respect to those who were there (and I believe all that you say) I think Obama was preaching to the choir to a certain extent. I would be far more convinced of his power if he could pull off a rally like this in a rural area.
Interested in hearing all of your thoughts along this line…and thanks to all who reported on the event.
I myself put on my “drawers” and plopped down on my “couch” (if I COULD do that for a living btw…I WOULD) and watched the degradation and embarasssment that was the Democratic candidates for Senate debate. Guys…now guys…I’m telling you…it was a spinal tap experience. And that aint a good thing. Amateur hour. Ironic that this uninspiring and downright demoralizing event was taking place at the same time as the Obama event at which all of you felt so “electric.” Be glad you missed the show I watched, ya’ll. Hmph. Dohhh. Blech…

I guess this is why I’m so bummed that he’s not going to be in Lexington tomorrow (err, today). Granted, we still have a week until the primary, but it seems like if you’re going to lose Kentucky, at least go out with a bang. Hold a massive rally at f-ing RUPP ARENA and you’re god of some parts of Kentucky – albeit not all – but it’s something’s better than nothing. They’ve come this far…what could it hurt?

Now, why the campaign won’t do, I don’t know. And I guess that’s why I’m never going into politics.

Joe Gerth said something like 8,000 inside, but then I’ve also seen multiple other sources that say 10k-plus, in addition to the 2-3 thousand overflow, and people who couldn’t get in.

By far the biggest event I’ve ever been to in KY. Bigger than John Edwards in ’04- and that event was packed.

I was at The Swell Season (Oscar winners for Best Song) concert at the Brown Theatre and Glen Hansard say they had been to see Obama before they came up on stage. He was electrified about Obama, and he’s Irish! (he apologized to Republicans about his excitement) :)

Looks like I missed the event of a lifetime to attend one of the best concerts of my life. Oh, life’s trade-offs!

I think they're getting Freedom Hall all decked out for the gun totin' Yosemite Sams that'll be coming to town this weekend. 60,000 are expected and they'll be packing (in more ways than one) the Fairgrounds. John McCain will be speaking to them and there's more than a handful of NRA members who think they can talk to him while they carry their weapons. If ever there was a weekend to get the hell out of Dod, er Louisville, this would be it. As proof, I offer exhibits A and B from my new guilty pleasure Snowflakes in Hell
