Like we’ve discussed over and over and over again, no one has presented a compelling argument for why and how Greg Fischer is a more viable opponent for Mitch McConnell in the fall.
He doesn’t have the money to be a self-funder, like we were the only media outlet to report yesterday. The DSCC isn’t backing him and progressive groups aren’t wasting their time. He’s still 19 points down from Bruce Lunsford, the source of uber-liberal fury, after several weeks of attacks that surprisingly haven’t done anything to harm his opponent. Sure, he’s a liberal or whatever (like us), but what good does that do him in the fall? Really?
Go read what Joe has to say about the matter:
- Fischer’s financial disclosure shows that Fischer reluctance to dump millions into his campaign might actually stem from…. the lack of available millions to spend.
- Who is going to appeal more to conservative Dems and Republicans, who are necessary to win this election? Someone intoning basic liberal talking points in a soft monotone voice? Or someone who can say that he too was fooled by Fletcher…
And if you’re tired of all the campaign talk, go watch this video of Greg Fischer’s latest campaign speech.

When Andrew Horne was running for Senate everyone was criticizing Bruce Lunsford and the arrogant DSSC because Lunsford was just a candidate WITH money. Remember everyone angry with Sen Schumer? I do.
If is very funny now how liberals seem to love Lunsford now BECAUSE he has money. Why the change. Lunsford has not changed.
Bruce Lunsford is a crook who happens to have money as a candidate and a possible nominee who will lose 70-30 to McConnell.
I would rather vote for Fischer who is who he is. At least he is not a crook.
I am so disgusted with the qualification for running for office is money.

I don’t see any liberals who “love” Bruce Lunsford because he has money. I see a lot of people who recognize that Lunsford is the nominee– a lot of people who recognize attacks against Lunsford at this point are a total waste of time and are way, way too late.
Bruce Lunsford is a crook? What was he convicted of? He was the CEO of a corporation that fell apart and paid a zillion dollars in fines. We know that. But does that make him a crook/convict/whatever? Hardly. But no one is trying to cover up the Vencor dirt. That’s there. It’s all fair game. But not in a primary when used by an opponent who knows he has absolutely no shot at winning. That’s called having a crazy ego. And believe me– it takes a lot to out ego Bruce.
I suggest you get to know Bruce before falling into line like the rest of the sheep. You may hate the idea of his candidacy, but you’re going to have to deal with it. It’s time to wake up and accept reality. You can’t change it. It’s too late.
The goal is to beat McConnell. And anyone who thinks Greg Fischer has a better shot than Bruce Lunsford is just… well, misguided. No one has been able to tell us why or how Fischer can win.
And if you’re me, you don’t think McConnell can be beat in November. So the objective is to force him to spend all of his campaign money inside Kentucky (Bruce can and will force that) so his money doesn’t benefit other Republicans around the country.
