Early Evening Tidbits & Junk

May 6th, 2008 · 8 Comments

It’s still primary day in Indiana and North Carolina or whatever. Can you believe it? Our heads haven’t yet exploded.

Bruce Lunsford’s campaign for U.S. Senate released its giant list of endorsements along with its latest campaign ad. Individuals and organizations from all walks of life and from across the political spectrum. [Lunsford Campaign]

The Republican Party of Kentucky reminded us of why it’s so crucial to defeat John Dubya McCain this November. In a press release the party’s chairperson said, “The next president will nominate hundreds of qualified men and women to the federal courts, and the impact of these choices will reach far into the future.” Plenty of reason to vote for the Democratic nominee. Indiana Primary Coverage – Live on the Internets. Joe Arnold of WHAS11 will host a live webcast beginning at 8:00 P.M. Eastern to discuss the Indiana primary. His panel will include Sean Smith of the Obama campaign, Jonathan Hurst of the Clinton campaign, Scott Jennings from Peritus PR and formerly a Karl Rove aide. They’ll also be discussing the upcoming Kentucky primary and the latest SurveyUSA results that indicate there’s less support for Obama in Kentucky than any other contested state (62%-28%), with the exception of Arkansas. Note: See snippets of an interview with Hurst and Smith after the jump.

Greg Fischer only gained four points, not six as the ill-informed (about Kentucky and reality here in the Bluegrass) national blogosphere would have you believe. And you wonder why Kentuckians feel so disenfranchised when it comes to national folks. Check out the comments section where Joe Sonka drops a bit of reality into the mix. [Open Left]

Barack Obama’s campaign for the U.S. Presidency purchased $10,000 worth of tickets for this Friday’s fundraiser for the Kentucky Democratic Party that will feature prominent Democrats– including Hillary Clinton. Obama was invited but has refused/declined/been unable to confirm an appearance at the event. [Pat Crowley]

Looks like 6% improvement by Fischer in one week. Unless there is another poll involved.

In the latest Survey USA polls
    http://www.surveyusa.com/client/PollTrack.aspx?g=de20451f-11ad-4448-8c6f-eef11b83ed41&x=0,0
one week apart (Tues 04/29 to 05/06)
    the margin went from
    25% (43% Lundford – 18% Fischer) to
    19% (41% -22%).

A 25% margin minus a 19% margin equal a 6% improvement in one week. Going back further means an even bigger statistical reduction of margin by Fischer.

Fischer was at 18% a week ago. Now he’s at 22%.

One, two, three, four. He’s climbed four points.

    Congratulations to Sen. Obama.

    Now it’s on to November.

Bet whatshername does NOT show up in Louisville Friday, although I hope she does.

By continuing to pretend she actually has a chance, she keeps the race exciting and draws huge turnout to the polls.

We need a huge turnout on the 20th not just for the Congressional and Senate primaries, but also to get people fired up for the general in November.

don,t understand why any one would try to help Bruce get elected–he lied to fed. ,was fined in the nurse home affair, lied and bankrupt Vencor, lied latley to cour journa(said vencor stock was replaced with ventas stock when vencor went bankrupt ) I lost 200 shares of vencor—I hope he loses by vast amount of votes

One of the worse scondrels ever to try to be elected to public office –he has some scheme in mind to steal more money –

“eugene” – Vencor stock holders were given equal shares of Ventas. Those who kept that stock would be quite wealthy these days by comparison. People like you who didn’t keep it– if you even owned Vencor stock to begin with– would be up a creek. But those are facts, right? Can’t deal with facts.

Vencor was one of several other companies that suffered the exact same fate at the hands of the Medicare/Medicaid system. Sure, Bruce’s decisions led to the company’s downfall. But you’re acting like it was some sort of rarity.
