This has absolutely got to be the most embarrassing campaign in the history of campaigns in Kentucky. Goes far beyond the inaccurate crap Fischer’s crew is trying to spread. (What a way to promote Democratic unity, right? And she’s on the Fayette Co Exec Cmte.)
Today Greg Fischer’s campaign for U.S. Senate flipped out over a news post that Bruce Lunsford’s campaign put on his website about Andrew Horne’s endorsement letter printed in the Courier-Journal.
Joe Gerth does a fine job telling this story, so check out what he has to say:
The story Lunsford’s website was linking to was actually a letter to the editor published in Sunday’s Courier-Journal from former Democratic candidate Andrew Horne who had announced his endorsement of Lunsford a week or two ago.
The headline over the the letter to the editor in the newspaper merely said, “Favors Lunsford.”
The Fischer campaign put out a press release headlined: “Lunsford’s Dishonesty Continues: Campaign Web Site Falsely Claims, Courier-Journal Favors Lunsford.”
Seriously. How juvenile will Greg Fischer’s campaign get? “CJ: Favors Lunsford” - is it really difficult to figure out what the heck the Lunsford campaign meant with that headline? We use the same protocol on Page One all the time. Here’s an example: Politician: Blah Blah Blah. It seems to be a pretty standard thing across the blogosphere.
Nicole Candler inaccurately quoted what was on the Lunsford site to begin with. The site used “CJ” instead of “Courier Journal” - which is a pretty big deal if we’re talking about the kind of semantics the Fischer camp is trying to get into.
Check back with us later to see Greg Fischer’s attack mailer flyer and (hopefully) for a preview of the new and confusing ad he’s launching tomorrow.

Lunsford’s Dishonesty Continues:
Campaign Web Site Falsely Claims, Courier-Journal Favors Lunsford
Bruce Lunsford’s campaign today falsely claimed the Courier-Journal favors his candidacy. Reminiscent of his failed 2003 Governor’s race during which he spent seven million dollars falsely attacking now Congressman Ben Chandler, Lunsford is once again trying to mislead voters.
The lead headline today on Bruce Lunsford’s web site — www.Bruce2008.com — falsely states, “CJ Favors Lunsford.” The Courier-Journal has not yet endorsed or publicly stated its support for any candidate in 2008 Democratic Primary for U.S. Senate.
“Bruce Lunsford clearly has a problem telling the truth. If his false, personal attacks against Ben Chandler in 2003 and his campaign’s plagiarism problems last year weren’t proof enough (C-J 4/20/07), one need only look at his web site today to understand that Bruce Lunsford still has a problem being honest with the people of Kentucky, said Kim Geveden, Senior Political Advisor with Greg Fischer’s U.S. Senate campaign.
After clicking on the link title “Courier-Journal Favors Lunsford,” Lunsford’s web site directs the viewer to another page again with the headline, “Courier-Journal Favors Lunsford.” The article itself is a letter to the editor authored by Andrew Horne who publicly endorsed Lunsford weeks ago.

OMG… for approving this Kim Gevedon should seriously be fired. The press might actually write something if Fischers staff weren’t completely inept, sending out constant bs
Mitch is a pro… Lunsford working his way up from the minors…. Fischer obviously not even at the collegiate level…. maybe he should go back to re-designing the slurpie machine for speedway, oh and tell them to buy longer straws Greg
Pageone should stop giving these idiots attention

Seriously…..Fisher….get a clue….That means the candidate. Loose the amateurs, especially the alleged–can you say shell game–campaign manager and–whatever Geveden’s title is. The titles should be: Dumb and Dumber.
Sending press releases and e-mails from whichever staffer wants a name is, you said it-juvenile. One of the few credible staffers is Candler. Most of the crap sent is so obviously not hers. We that know her work from the professional world are shocked and sending it under her name borders on criminal. Even a fake race would not have this amount of screw ups.
The first comment is right on. Surely pageone has other things to do than give these idiots attention, even though the morons are handing it out like candy.

Unfortunately, the legislature is out of session and there’s nothing left to laugh about.
Maybe some of you political types out there could cause some controversy for me? PLEASE?
