Northern Kentucky’s Lincoln Day Dinner this Saturday was a hot bed for controversial statements. From McConnell to Davis, well, we just can’t stop laughing and/or gagging.
First, Rep. Geoff Davis, (KY-04) had the audacity to refer to Barack Obama as “boy” in his remarks:
“I’m going to tell you something: That boy’s finger does not need to be on the button,” Davis said. “He could not make a decision in that simulation that related to a nuclear threat to this country.”
Regardless of what Davis meant by his strange choice of words, “boy” is a racist code word. It’s unfortunate that he decided to go down that road.
Sen. Mitch McConnell opened up a can of worms for jokes about he and his wife. I hope he’s prepared because it won’t be pretty.
As for Obama’s Democratic rival, McConnell said U.S. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York seems to be “teetering on the brink.”
“I hear she hasn’t been this worried since a new Hooters opened” near her home with former President Bill Clinton, McConnell said, prompting laughs from the 400 Northern Kentucky Republicans.
Really? A g-d Hooters joke? So classy.
UPDATE: Trey Grayson gave the most awesome speech ever. His remarks are coming up in a story around 10:00 A.M. Here’s a hint: he gives Steve Beshear a report card.

That didn’t take long. Davis apologized about an hour ago. Go here.

“Regardless of what Davis meant by his strange choice of words, “boy” is a racist code word”.
So are we really supposed to care more about the word he said instead of what he felt in his heart? So image and savy choice of word means more then what a person really believes?
You’d make a perfect Obama supporter if you only care about image.

You can’t call someone a fag and then use the argument that that’s not what you meant in your heart. Same principle applies here. And from my experience, you don’t use the term ‘boy’ or n-word or fag or bitch or anything on accident if you don’t use those terms in everyday life. (But that’s just my personal experience)
The point is Davis said what he said. He said it. He can’t take it back. He can apologize and that’s admirable. But he said what he said.
This issue died yesterday but thanks for bringing it back to life.
