Another scary gay post! Jake is spreading the gay all over the place. Please send all death threats directly to him. Clutter in the tips@ address inbox is no good.
In one of the most stupid moves by the Kentucky legislature in our lifetimes, the Senate voted in favor (30-5) of SB 112 that bans state universities and all government agencies from offering domestic partner benefits.
Sen. Ernesto Scorsone has it right when he says this kind of measure brings out the worst in all of us. It brings the biggest tools out of the shed. Tools led by Republican Senator Vernie McGaha (unfortunate name) of Russell Springs. McGaha says he is “quite proud” of his bill and stands strong for his convictions. So we hope for his sake he’s not one of the several rumored closeted Republicans in the state senate. We hope the same for his 30 friends who voted for the ban.
The bill is now on its way to the House where it’s expected to pass comfortably.
Next on their agenda? Making it illegal for businesses of any type to receive tax breaks or incentives from the state if they offer domestic partner benefits.
Every single elected official in Frankfort should feel completely ashamed.
Disgusting.
Will Governor Beshear make good on his promise to use the veto pen?

Please, little Vernie, how does this do anything but hurt Kentucky Universities? Other schools across the country offer this kind of program, so schools like Louisville would love to compete on the same plane.
Oh that’s right: You don’t care about that. You only care about spewing and passing hatred. We must act like the gays are the reason for our problems!
Didn’t we hear a speech from the Governor last night saying we’re in a major budget crunch? And you’re making it worse because you hate homos? This is some of the most abhorrent legislation passed in Kentucky’s history.
Did anyone watch the last Governor’s race? Where Ernie Fletcher threw the “Gays are meanies” card at everyone the final two months? Anyone look at the final tally? Yeah, it kinda didn’t work.
EVERYONE in Frankfort should be ashamed.

If Beshear doesn’t veto this utter anti-human crap, I’ll lead the movement to hound him out of office.

Democrats voted to BAN domestic partner benefits right along side the Republicans. It wasn’t just a republican thing – it was democrats as well.
Democrats who voted to BAN domestic partner benefits:
Blevins (D)
Boswell (D)
Carroll (D)
Clark (D)
Leeper (I)
Pendleton (D)
Rhoads (D)
Ridley(D)
Turner (D)
Worley (D)
Democrat who did NOT vote
Jones (D)
My prediction: Beshear will not veto this because he wants all those dems in the senate to vote for “his” casino bill … whatever that entails?

Hence the bit about the entire legislature being ashamed.

I have sympathy for David Williams. It must be hard going through life with that little intellect.

I just wrote about this. I knew you guys would have covered it. WTF is all I have to say. This brings out all my ire against old white men, fair or not. Probably not. Ok, this brings out all my ire against old white men named Vernie McGaha.

No, it’s okay. All old white men turn out to be hacks these days for the most part.

Way to go Boswell. I am so proud you call Owensboro home! More of the same. Lets replace one old, backward, white guy with another in the 2nd. At least Reid Haire has the ‘potential’ for original thought and would leave employers to make their own decisions regarding benefit packages.

Yeah, now I may reconsider whether Boswell is a good choice for the 2nd Congressional District. After all, he has just indicated that he is inexplicably angry at real people in their real lives in their real families. Why all the anger, Mr. Boswell?
