Steve Beshear said he wouldn’t use state planes for political purposes. He’s now being criticized for doing just that on his first trip in a state plane as Governor of the Commonwealth. Leaving us to wonder if everything the man does will be construed as controversial. [Hebert]
Earmark Anne Northup, the woman who said during the gubernatorial primary that she didn’t want to be a congress critter anymore, is filing this afternoon to become a congress critter again. Can she beat Chris Thieneman? Will she move on to the general and get trounced by John Yarmuth? Who knows. But strong arming another Republican to get out of her way isn’t a good way to get started. [C-J]
The No Child Left Behind report is out and Mark Hebert leaves it up to you to decide whether or not it’s a good or bad thing. Hey, at least we’re not teaching Mexicans english, right? We’re also not tutoring our kids like the rest of the country, either. And only 83% of our kids graduate high school. [Hebert]
And speaking of Mexicans. Something Anne Northup’s never done (to our knowlege): met with border patrol to research how many scary Mexicans they’re protecting us from. It’s exactly what Rep. John Yarmuth did when he visited the border. You’ll be pleased to learn patrol agents are getting good at what they do. Fewer and fewer Mexicans will be able to get across the border to scare our white women. [The Arena]
Our white women are scared! All the updates you can handle after the jump…
If you’re like us and still glaze over every time you hear George W. Bush give a speech, you didn’t get much from the State of the Union last night. If anything exciting happened, please let us know. We won’t hold our breath. [BGR]
Richard Henderson (D-Insecure) is so afraid of the gays that he took out a full page advertisement in the Wolfe County News to proclaim his opposition to the more fruity among us. He’s all up on a defending the “sanctity” of marriage kick and says he received a ton of calls from his conservative district in opposition to his stance. Imagine that. Not everyone’s worthless like Henderson and his insecure crew. [Cyberhillbilly]
It’s getting exciting. Will Bruce Lunsford get into the U.S. Senate race or won’t he? Will his yes men get a giant pay day? It’s safe to say that if he enters the race all hell will break loose. Having worked for Bruce Lunsford, we know there’s a lot the public doesn’t know about him. Both good and not so good. Let’s just say it’s in his best interest not to run. [BGR]

Re: Richard Henderson.
He will likely draw opposition in the primary but all of the House leadership came to his district for a fundraider a couple of weeks ago. Jody and the gang are 100 percent behind his re-election.

Anon:
All the more reason for Jody to be replaced by Greg Stumbo as Speaker of the House.
Equality isn’t a Democratic or Republican ideal so anyone supporting Henderson’s insecure and homophobic tripe need to be reminded of that.
