Breaking: Ron Lewis Dropped Out

January 29th, 2008 · 5 Comments

For realz. Republican Ron Lewis just DROPPED OUT of the KY-02 House Race.

WHAT on earth!?

That leaves two Democrats and two Republicans.

  • David E. Boswell – Democrat
  • Reid Haire – Democrat
  • Daniel London – Republican
  • S. Brett Guthrie – Republican

So… looks like Kentucky’s second congressional district will land in Democratic hands in 2008. Not even Daniel London, Lewis’s Chief of Staff, can pull this one off.

UPDATE: Jim Pence must be jumping for joy right now.

Actually…Brett Guthrie will be tough to beat. If you don’t think so, you don’t know the district. He is super popular…and that Democratic primary is going to be a bitch. Haire and Boswell despise each other.

Too lazy to log back in to make an update.

Is anyone else just amazed at the move Lewis tried to pull? Literally attempted to coronate his chief of staff without letting the higher ups know.

    I love it!

Does this mean it’s the death of the Republican Revolution? Sure, it ended in ’06, but it was Lewis who got it started.

    I bet Harry Berry’s a little miffed.

If the Dems take the seat this year, look for the Hardin County Judge-Exec to run in 2010.

What are we anointing Guthrie the Republican nominee already? Where is Guthrie super popular?–in Warren County? His big problem is that he will have a tough task to infiltrating the nothern part of the district, which has 65% of the registered Republican voters.

I have heard London has already locked up a ton of support around the district. With working with Lewis for 10 years, I am sure Daniel has personal relathionships with every hardcore Repub in the district. Guthrie has a lotttt of ground to make up and a huge hill to climb even to get the nomination.

Lewis leaves the party in a lurch, throws his buddy a bone and all the support he can handle, then ol’ Danny boy throws in the towel before it even gets wet. I think the R’s are going to watch this seat go to the Dems. One of the Dems is very well connected in Bowling Green, E-Town and of course Oboro. You may think he is a long shot, but once you meet him, you will see he is not your typical candidate. Haire is the real deal. Watch for him coming to your town!
