Oh Snap Monday: Crazy is Crazy Edition

January 14th, 2008 · No Comments

Mitch McConnell has a million different ads. “The re-election campaign of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is turning out ads almost as fast as the bonbons in Lucille Ball’s famous chocolate factory skit.” In case you didn’t know, he’s spending money like crazy in order to maintain his approval rating. [C-J]

Uncle Steve is giving his State of the Commonwealth address this evening at 7:00 P.M. Eastern on KET. Expect lots of budgeting and gambling and stuff. Maybe some exciting drama. Maybe? We hope it’s exciting. Watch it tonight if you can. Or stream it live on KET’s website. Best PBS station in the country. [KET]

Along the same line of thought, Ryan Alessi cracked us up with his headline, “Will Beshear be an Eeyore on Monday?” Seriously. The more the guy writes the funnier he gets. [PolWatchers]

Ernest Lee the prophet? Turns out he predicted this budgetary mess back in 2006. Whodathunk it? We still maintain that the Ernie you saw during the campaign is not the real Ernie. We hope he also starts to rehab his image ASAP. We’d even help him. [C-J]

In case you didn’t know, Kentucky legislators– both Democrats and Republicans– can’t handle money to save their lives. Starting fancy new programs and handing out the pork with no way to pay for either seems to be the popular way of doing business. Will we ever see, you know, reform in Frankfort? Not in our lifetimes. [Hebert]

And for some crazy spin, go read this. We’ll give you some things to remember as you read the parroted stuff from candidates. Fischer is a union buster with a bad labor relationship. Michael Cassaro isn’t a serious candidate, doesn’t have a legit financial consultant (he tried to hire me three weeks ago) and doesn’t have a grasp on health care (he told me he doesn’t support K/S-CHIP). Sometimes Democrats are full of it. Sometimes reading fringe blogs can be hilarious.
