Everyone is talking about Andrew Horne today. Definite proof that he’s the Democratic Party’s consensus candidate to face draft dodging Mitch McConnell for U.S. Senate.
Read the full story and see Horne’s video announcement here.
Just a bit of the chatter:
BlueGrassRoots — the leader of the Draft Horne movement humbly shares Andrew’s announcement with a personal interview of the Colonel
DailyKos — complete with a poll
Jon Soltz — leader of VoteVets.org shares his remarkable take on why Andrew is the guy to end Mitch McConnell’s career. (Thanks to a dear friend for reminding me to include this.)
Ditch Mitch — Leader of the Ditch Mitch movement spreads the word
PolWatchers — great updates from Republican-lite Greg Fischer who mistakenly says Kentuckians support him, despite the dozens who as recent as last evening demanded he back away from the U.S. Senate race
See the rest after the jump. Complete with some Swiftboating!
C-J — the comments section is filled with McConnell liars attacking Andrew’s character and military career. It’s to be expected from people who support a draft-dodging chicken hawk, though.
Talking Points Memo’s Election Central
Swing State Project — lays the money cards on the table, though would have been wise to link to Andrew’s ActBlue fundwhich has already raised over $1,600.
Blue in the Bluegrass — Good coverage
UK Dems — Even the college kids are behind him!
The Hill — McConnell finally gets a challenger
CQ Politics — The national front
The Rural Democrat — Southeastern Kentucky is buzzing
Kentucky Women — in Northern Kentucky
John Y. Brown III — states the case for Andrew
Swiftboaters — the nuts are out on the blogs, too, attacking him for having the gall to mention his expertise and personal experience in Iraq — and — wait for it — Andrew’s a bad, bad man because Mitch had polio has a child. Where on earth is the logic for that one? Blows our minds.
Bluegrass Bulletin — Don’t wanna be complete hacks so we have to point out that conservatives are absolutely capable of being reasonable and reporting things as they happen.
Finally Nickolas — actually chimes in for support, though he lends unnecessary credibility to Greg Fischer. Great move on his part to back the consensus candidate. And great news for the Bluegrass State.

Once again, I see attacks on Fischer calling him a DINO when his opinions have not even been stated yet.

And where is this unnecessary credibility? He is mentioned once:
“I don’t say that with any contempt for the other possible candidates who are considering a run, like Attorney General Stumbo (D) or even businessman Greg Fischer (D) — but I believe Lt. Col. Horne matches-up well with McConnell, particularly on the most important issue of the day — the war.”

1. Guess you weren’t at the UAW hall last night.
2. Calling him a possible candidate is sorely misleading, as Fischer didn’t even have the guts to answer a question on the record last night. And Matt Barzun and Ted Shlechter appear to be his only supporters.

I’m assuming the big $ he gave to Anne Northrup is warranting the DINO label. Assuming.

Or the contributions to Rebecca Jackson.

I blogged about it today and re-linked to my September blogterview

I’ve been paying attention to Kentucky politics for a very long time, and have been involved in Jefferson County politics for several years now…
I had not heard of Greg Fischer before a few weeks ago.
I’ve known Andrew and Steph Horne for over a year now, and they are both wonderful. Andrew will be a senator that will represent real Kentuckians in Washington, not just those with the money to pay for influence.
Horne needs to be the consensus candidate.
Everyone should get behind him so we can have the unity to Ditch Mitch!

Rebecca Jackson heads the Crusade for Children. Donating to her makes one a villain, doesn’t it?

Considering she was a partisan hack as a Judge-Exec, it certainly doesn’t make donating to her a GOOD thing for a Democrat.

Wow, nice work on this roundup. It led me to a lot of info that my Google Alert missed. Much thanks, Jake!
