And They’re Off

November 19th, 2007 · 3 Comments

Casino proponents from KEEP (Kentucky Equine Education Project, headed by Patrick Neely) are gearing up for a public campaign using every medium available, including those pesky robocalls, to persuade Kentuckians to support an amendment on casino gambling.

An opposition group, Say No to Casinos, may not be as well financed, but is producing a 13-minute video it will find a way to distribute.

That’s right. A 13-minute video. Do you know how many people will bother to watch 13 minutes of anything political? Not even a handful.

Take it from us, anti-casino folks: re-strategize before you make yourselves look stupid. Because it looks like the folks at KEEP, the people in Beshear’s office and Harrah’s-like operations nationwide will be rubbing your noses in it. Come up with some sound bites and play with facts so there will be less for us to criticize.

Don’t forget Columbia Sussex from NKY. I think they may spend plenty of money to push the issue. Check out their new building near Thomas More College. I think they’re in it for the long haul.

The horse industry has been crying that they’re poor for years. If you can’t make any money, move on. Don’t expect the taxpayers to bail you out . Do you think they have the money to keep up with the gambling industry? Wasn’t it nice of them (KEEP) to identify it as Equine Education Project. Pay your own way!

Come on. Don’t try to play two people ten minutes apart. At least use a different computer/IP address.
