Michael Cassaro– a Democrat and physician from Louisville’s Prospect area– is taking a run at Mitch McConnell. He’s gotten off to a bad start and hasn’t even officially filed for candidacy.
Via Hebert’s blog:
Louisville pain doctor Michael Cassaro is planning to announce his candidacy at a really bad time on a really bad day. Cassaro plans to announce his long shot candidacy on the same day President Bush will be right across the river in New Albany. I’m guessing the President’s visit might take precedence over the Cassaro announcement.
The most interesting thing we can find about Cassaro is that he gave Ernie Fletcher $1,000 in 2003. (And $1,000 to controversial Jack Wood.)

Bad news when trying to run as a Democrat.
We’re hoping this guy doesn’t waste too much of his money.

I wonder what this guy’s thinking. Having given to Fletcher he’ll have to be a whole lot more progressive than Jimmy Moore to even get a percent or two of the vote. So is he just trying to push issues into the forefront? Or maybe he has future plans that can be served by getting his name out there.
