Chinese Money Machine Taking on Water?

October 29th, 2007 · 4 Comments

Mitch McConnell’s red Chinese money ship is sinking in the polls and we’re more than a year away from election day. 46% of people recently polled disapprove of McConnell. Only 45% approve. It’s time for Mitch to worry because he’s continually falling below 50%. That may be something his $8 trillion campaign coffers can’t resolve.

The Herald-Leader polled McConnell against four potential Democratic oppents: Andrew Horne, Greg Stumbo, Ben Chandler and Crit Luallen.

McConnell 45 – Horne 34
McConnell 46 – Stumbo 37
McConnell 46 – Chandler 41
McConnell 45 – Luallen 40

Let’s talk about fear here, kids. A virtual unknown (Andrew Horne) is within striking distance of the most powerful Republican in the U.S. and A. Mitch should be afraid when the unknowns can prove he’s beatable. Unknowns who could smoke anyone’s arse on Iraq, that is. Snap.

Hello, horse race.

If Horne gets some real help from the DSCC in raising name idea, this could really be down to the wire. The contrast between the two is like night and day. Horne is an articulate honorable family man who has impeccable credentials on security issues, and since he is a veteran of both Iraq conflicts, Mitch would put himself in a very precarious position if he tried to attack Horne on his war positions.

We need a fresh face and new ideas to go against Mitch next year.

    Horne 2008!

TeeHee, What you say makes a lot of sense.

I expect the field to be crowed for the primary.
Luallen seems to have the best numbers at this point. But, it is still , VERY, VERY early.

Still, the 47 percent who said they had a positive view of McConnell is higher than the 46 who don’t.
LIFT FROM THE LEXINGTON HERALD LEADER.

“It’s a mixed bag,” said Del Ali, president of the Olney, Md.-based firm Research 2000 that conducted the poll. “He can rightly say ‘I could be one of the higher-rated Republicans in the country, and I’m more of a target. In spite of that and the kitchen sink being thrown at me, there’s a plurality who still think favorably of me.’”

Here is the reason whomever the challenger will need lots of MEDIA BUCKS and a large research staff. If one of THE wanna be’s expects to defeat McConnell, they will need to start early, start with the Iraq thing, and then, IMO, a popular move would be to say, the candidate will work to pass an amendent to the NAFTA treaty, or to support increase tariff’s on imports. (Especially China.)

Loss of jobs, is a signcnt thing. And, the D candidate could gain by using this and the war idea.

    IMO
