ANOTHER Controversial Fletcher Appointment

August 17th, 2007 · No Comments

Ernie Fletcher has appointed Taylor Orr, of London, to the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Commission.

Orr was convicted of killing an elk out of season. He’s now sitting on the board responsible for state hunting and fishing rules.

Orr says he “inadvertently” shot the elk while looking for an animal he had wounded two days earlier. Granted, he said he was remorseful and even looked remorseful when Mark Hebert interviewed him, but should someone who has broken a law in this situation be appointed to the commission overseeing hunting and fishing? He says he has a better understanding of how the system operates after having been convicted.

Couldn’t someone with a clean record be appointed? Does this defy logic?

See more on the story Mark Hebert broke. Read more on Hebert’s blog.
